Join Emmanuelle Chriqui in Green Works's Reverse Graffiti Project

Actress and EMA Young Hollywood Board member Emmanuelle Chriqui recently partnered with Green Works to bring awareness to The Reverse Graffiti Project, an epic urban cleaning initiative that reaches beyond the surface. Armed with the plant-based Green Works products, Japanese muralist Mr. Kiji transformed a busy (and very dirty) LA underpass into a beautiful work of art. If Green Works products can erase years of pollution to reveal eye-catching works of art, then imagine what it can do in your home.

Check out the Q&A below with Emmanuelle to learn more about this revolutionary project.

The campaign is all about small, everyday choices making a big impact. What are some of the ways you do this in your day-to-day routine?
I think small changes can be the most realistic because it can ease people in if they are just taking their first steps to be more environmentally conscious. I drive a hybrid car, recycle, take my reusable shopping bags to the store, buy organic and local, avoid using bottled water, among other steps.

The Reverse Graffiti Gallery includes installations from a LA underpass to the Broadway Tunnel in San Francisco; which is your favorite?
I think they are all pretty amazing, and I love the fact that you created art by removing the dirt from the walls in an environmentally sustainable way.

Do you have any tips for people who are wanting to make a change but don't know where to start?
Everyone should try the things they are comfortable with – and home is a good place to start. We have daily green tips on www.ema-online.org to help get you started.

Casa Beta: Clorox Green Works Wipes

I've always been skeptical about the power of wipes; be it cleaning a baby's bottom or the face of Yours Truly, I've never believed they can get the job done.

I've always been skeptical about the power of wipes; be it cleaning a baby's bottom or the face of Yours Truly, I've never believed they can get the job done. So, when I tested out the new Clorox Green Works Natural Cleaning Wipes, I held my expectations low. But my experience with Clorox's eco-friendly Green Works line, which is all made of plant- and mineral-based ingredients, had been wonderful, so I had hope. Casa Beta: Clorox Green Works Dishwashing Liquid

Back in January, I had the opportunity to review Clorox's Green Works cleaning products.

Back in January, I had the opportunity to review Clorox's Green Works cleaning products. While many people (including myself) were initially wary of a natural cleaning line put out by Clorox, I was won over by the fact that the products were 99 percent natural, contained no harsh cleansers or artificial scents, and did the job with a minimum of fuss or expense. Further, I was impressed by the fact that the Sierra Club endorsed these products. This weekend, I tested out Green Works's latest product, its natural dishwashing liquid.

Wherefore Art Thou, Sock Puppet?

Two socks find a perfect match in each other, pair off, go everywhere together, cuddle close in the dirty laundry pile, and get all cleaned up for another go around — over and over again.

Two socks find a perfect match in each other, pair off, go everywhere together, cuddle close in the dirty laundry pile, and get all cleaned up for another go around — over and over again. Until one day, one of them has an unfortunate accident and ends up in the trash. The other gets thrown in a drawer to live all alone for eternity. It's the saddest love story every told . . .

This Just In: Sierra Club Partners With Green Works

The Sierra Club, a noted and well-respected environmental nonprofit, has recently partnered with Clorox Green Works, a new green household cleaning line, to promote the line of cleaners.

The Sierra Club, a noted and well-respected environmental nonprofit, has recently partnered with Clorox Green Works, a new green household cleaning line, to promote the line of cleaners. Explaining its decision, the Sierra Club writes,

The bottom line is that these products are environmentally conscious, affordable, work well, and will be available to millions of people. They can help alter consumer behavior overall and will support the good work of the Sierra Club. It is our chance to use the power of our name to create an opportunity for people to do the right thing that hasn't really existed before on a large scale. And that is a great opportunity for Sierra Club and for the planet.

This is basically what I wrote in my Casa Beta post, and I agree with the Sierra Club — if we can get green cleaners in the hands of a majority of consumers, all the better.

Germs

Are Women Germier than Men?

A recent study from the University of Arizona has found that a woman's workspace could contain up to four times the germs than those of her male counterpart.

A recent study from the University of Arizona has found that a woman's workspace could contain up to four times the germs than those of her male counterpart. Despite her potentially neat appearance, a woman's desk typically has more germ attracting things on it like lotions and/or purses. The women in the study also tended to keep snacks at their desk and food is a prime target of microorganisms.

The top spots for a man's germs: His wallet and his PDA. Neither of which are shocking as my husband (and most men) always reach for one or the other.

Interesting finding, but before you go getting all bent out of shape about being germier than your man, I do think it is important to point out that Clorox, the king of disinfectant companies, commissioned the study. The earth shattering suggestions to get rid of the germs: Use a hand sanitizer on hands and a disinfectant (like Clorox Wipes, perhaps) on surfaces -- Once-a-day should be sufficient.

There is definitely nothing wrong with killing a few more germs than you normally would but try not to get too bent out of shape about it.
