It's been said that life imitates art, and Nars is bringing that concept to makeup with its forthcoming Andy Warhol collection.

It's been said that life imitates art, and Nars is bringing that concept to makeup with its forthcoming Andy Warhol collection. Taking inspiration from Warhol's silk-screened pop art and his silver Factory, the limited-edition collection doesn't start rolling out until October — but here's our sneak peek at a few highlights.

"I've never met a person I couldn't call a beauty," Andy Warhol once said. Now, makeup legend François Nars has transformed Warhol's art into a beauty collection for the holidays. Edie Sedgwick and Candy Darling are some of the muses for the limited-edition makeup line, but the artist's Factory days also pop up in silver lip gloss, nail polish, and shadows. Can't wait to get your hands on a Warhol? "Pop" will be available in Sephora on Oct. 1, and "Silver Factory" is coming to department stores on Nov. 1.

First Look! Nars Channels Andy Warhol's Factory Days

Pop art meets makeup artists with Nars's collaboration for the holidays.

Pop art meets makeup artists with Nars's collaboration for the holidays. Having always been inspired by pop art and the swinging '60s, François Nars has partnered with the Andy Warhol Foundation For the Visual Arts in the foundation's largest collaboration to date. Nars is releasing two makeup collections that channel Warhol's iconic art as part of its holiday line. "I have always surrounded myself with Andy's work and even paid tribute to him in past collections," Nars told WWD, referring to his Edie eye shadow, Chelsea Girls lip lacquer, and others. "This just seemed like the right time to do [a bigger effort]."

The two collections represent two distinct aspects of Warhol's career: his pop art phase and his Factory phase. The first collection, aptly named Pop, will be released exclusively at Sephora starting Oct. 1. Pop contains products inspired by Warhol's most iconic works, with bright, punchy colors. The Debbie Harry Cheek and Eye Palette ($65) is an ode to Warhol's paintings of the Blondie frontwoman; a lip gloss coffret is embellished with Warhol's famous lip print.

The Silver Factory set, on the other hand, will be released in department and specialty stores on Nov. 1. Meant to evoke the essence of Warhol's Factory days, the collection contains products named after various moments and faces of the Factory. A standout item is the Edie set ($75), a film canister with the face of Edie Sedgwick peering up from the cover, which contains everything from eye shadow to lipstick. So if you want to satiate your inner Chelsea Girl, pick up the collection while you can.

Coming Soon: A Nars and Andy Warhol Makeup Collaboration

What do you get when you cross one of the world's most creative cosmetics brands with a legend in Pop art?

What do you get when you cross one of the world's most creative cosmetics brands with a legend in Pop art? This: a makeup collection between Nars and The Andy Warhol Foundation. Created by makeup artist François Nars, the limited-edition cosmetics collaboration will hit stores in October; of course, the project promises bright hues and packaging in tribute to the late artist's creative view.

The artist's work is no stranger to licensing, and Warhol himself would have likely loved the idea. His art is a gadget case favorite, but beauty lovers won't forget the Bond No. 9 fragrance released last year in his honor. No word yet on specifics for the Nars collection, but it's sure to include standouts from the brighter end of the color spectrum — it wouldn't be Warholian without them.

Bond No. 9 Releases a New Andy Warhol Scent

From Marilyn Monroe to Jackie Kennedy, artist Andy Warhol was inspired by a variety of muses, but sometimes the motive came straight from within.

From Marilyn Monroe to Jackie Kennedy, artist Andy Warhol was inspired by a variety of muses, but sometimes the motive came straight from within. That's just what New York-based perfumer Bond No. 9 wanted to capture when creating its latest Warhol series, Andy Warhol by Bond No. 9 ($180 to $240).

In this sixth scent of the series, the fragrance and packaging are meant to celebrate Warhol's boho-mod life and times. A clean-cut Warhol is depicted on the front and back of the bottle in an old-school photobooth-style photo, paying homage to a Janus-faced design (one looking to the future, and one looking to the past). The '60s-centric brew includes top notes of bergamot zest, peach juice, red rose, and cumin; a heart of honeyed centifolia rose, white patchouli, cistus ambre, jasmine, frankincense, and oud; and a drydown of amber, red sandalwood, mulled plum, vanilla bean, and musk. Get your groove on Dec. 1, when the eau de parfum launches at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bond No. 9 stores in New York, and the perfumer's website.
