Have you ever wanted to spend a Saturday lounging by your favorite hotel pool or spa without staying overnight? Well, thankfully, just like everything else these days, there's an app for that. Resortpass makes it possible to enjoy some seriously good hotels and resorts for just the day. The genius concept is a perfect way to treat yourself and a friend or loved one to a little staycation.

The site has options available in 150 cities and 30 states, and you can choose from over 600 hotels. How do we know it's worth it? Well, because we tried it. Fellow commerce editor, Shelcy Joseph, and I were lucky enough to experience the joy for ourselves. She is located in New York City and I was in California at the time. We both decided to have pool days during summer heat waves, and our hotel choices blew us away.

The site's interface works the same as a normal hotel website: you simply choose a destination and date, and all you have to do is select your choice from a number of popular resorts. While these are great for lounging by the pool, you can also use it to book a spa day, too. Either way, the prices are great and totally worth it if you're just need of a little refresher. Keep reading to check out our experiences and try it out for yourself.

A Day in Palo Alto

"I was lucky enough to use ResortPass during a heat wave, so naturally I choose a hotel in my area with a great pool. The Rosewood Sandhill Hotel is a popular destination in my hometown that I'd always dreamed of spending a day at, but considering my house is 10 minutes away, I never thought of booking a night there. Being able to enjoy a day poolside was a total treat. I took my best friend and we arrived at 9 a.m. and stayed the entire day: swimming, lounging, ordering delicious food and drinks, and just soaking up the vitamin D. We both left the experience feeling relaxed, and like it was money well spent. We'd hands-down do it again." — Krista Jones, editor, Commerce

"My husband and I had the best time using ResortPass on a recent summer Sunday. The booking process was seamless (they even send you helpful reminders), and the hotel staff knew exactly what we were referring to when we mentioned booking on ResortPass. It all made for a smooth check-in at The Beach at the Dream Downtown, which turned out to be the perfect spot for a sun-soaked time spent poolside—sipping frosé, eating shishito peppers, and eating pork belly tacos. Needless to say, everything was delicious (if our check at the end was any indication). The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure our drinks were always replenished. The ambiance was inviting, and I only wish we could've come sooner to take in more of the fun." — Shelcy Joseph, assistant editor, Commerce
