Renters, rejoice! Hygge & West just launched its line of removable wallpaper tiles, and boy, are they are beautiful.
Printed on a matte fabric, the tiles have an adhesive back that is strong but low tack, meaning that it doesn't leave any residue when removed or replaced. Plus, the tiles can be trimmed to size and are reusable. Are we blowing your minds yet? Thought so! Although they would be great used just about anywhere, we were particularly impressed with Hygge & West's wallpapered fridge project and can't wait to try it ourselves. After that, who knows? Our bedroom, hallways, and door backs could all benefit from a little pattern and color! The best part? Our landlord never has to be the wiser.
Ask a Designer: Christiana Coop Talks Wallpaper
We are excited to kick off our new Ask a Designer series with design consultant Christiana Coop. As one half (the other half is her childhood friend Aimee) of both Hygge & West and Ferm Living Shop, she spends an inordinate amount of time around wallpaper, and she wouldn't have it any other way. "I'm kind of a wallpaper junkie," jokes Christiana, who has wallpapered everything from her stairs to her kitchen.
To help us get peel back the mystery behind one of the most enduring, but intimidating, aspects of home design, Christiana sat down to answer all of our burning wallpaper questions.

A Visit to Wallpaper Designer's Alix Soubiran's Los Feliz Home
When Parisian artist Alix Soubiran, the founder and creative force behind wallpaper company Princes & Crows, first discovered the Los Angeles neighborhood of Los Feliz, she knew that she'd found her perfect spot in the sprawling metropolis. Alix told me, "I felt I could live happily in LA when I discovered Los Feliz. It is an eclectic and vibrant community with charming houses in a green and hilly neighborhood. It is also the home of coyotes, skunks, squirrels, and hummingbirds. I am able to walk to the magazine stand, have a croissant at Figaro, go to Blue Rooster Art Supplies, get lost in time at Skylight Books, and watch a movie at the Los Feliz 3. It is like living in a village."
Extensive renovation of a Los Feliz bungalow, which Alix describes as "mid-century California meets 18th-century France," has provided the perfect home for Alix, her boyfriend Joe Mauceri, their daughter Monica-Moonshine, and their rabbit Mr. Pikapou.
Keep clicking to tour their home, and to hear more about Alix's wallpaper company, her history as an artist and muralist, and the story of their home.
