Casa Shops: General Store

A visit to the General Store feels a little bit like visiting someone's house — if that someone was a super cool artist/architect couple with a darling dog named Macy.

A visit to the General Store feels a little bit like visiting someone's house — if that someone was a super cool artist/architect couple with a darling dog named Macy.

Located a few blocks from the beach in San Francisco's Outer Sunset neighborhood, the General Store channels a laid-back, surfer vibe. Curated by owners Serena Mitnik-Miller and Mason St. Peter, the store is stocked with a mix of the practical and the magical, from garden totes to prism planters. Everything feels a little bit familiar, in the very best way. Lots of natural materials, handmade items and the things that make a house feel like a home; ceramic teapots, brass tacks, plants and locally made soaps. We never leave empty-handed and you won't either. You can also visit them at their newest location in Venice, CA!

Check out a few of our favorites from their newest arrivals.

As longtime fans of Steven Alan's, we were thrilled to hear about the opening of his new home goods shop in New York's TriBeCa neighborhood. A veritable treasure trove, the Steven Alan Home Shop offers a variety of housewares, gardening tools, rugs, textiles, and ceramics. The designer teamed up with some of his (and our!) favorite vendors, like Fort Standard and Garza Marfa, to stock the shop with a diverse and eclectic mix of items. Steven Alan will also be debuting his first capsule furniture collection with designer Jason Pickens, featuring made-to-order sofas in customized fabrics. Seriously exciting stuff! Read on for a sneak peek at the new space.

Aerin Lauder Home Collection

As the granddaughter of cosmetics guru Estée Lauder, Aerin Lauder had a strong role model to inspire her own success in beauty and design. Still, when it comes to her home collection, Aerin has channeled a style that's all her own — a cool, casual elegance that manages to be both modern and timeless. Her lifestyle brand Aerin launched last Fall, and although it originally featured a beauty collection, her brand now includes a unique home line of decorative accents, candles, and other eye-catching pieces for entertaining.

Simple luxury is at the heart of her collection, and we've fallen head over heels for her polished aesthetic. Check out the gorgeous pieces on our Aerin wish list, and take a cue from Aerin Lauder herself with a glimpse at how she's styled her own homes!
