Since moving into my studio apartment last summer, I've been slowly and thoughtfully decorating the space. While my essential pieces of furniture have long been situated, I've taken my time curating additional decor pieces like rugs, art, and any other accoutrements. One spot I particularly wanted to tackle was a corner where my round dining table and its accompanying chairs live. I spend much of my days in this corner, working from my laptop, taking Zoom calls, and eating occasional meals, so I wanted to create some separation for my working area. (Studio dwellers will understand what I'm talking about.)

Adding a rug seemed like an easy solution, but finding the perfect size, design, and quality for a reasonable price proved to be quite the difficult feat. Eventually, I landed on a chic yet durable round rug from Ruggable, the Jonathan Adler Inkdrop Slate Blue Rug in 6' Round ($269). Visually, the rug is minimalist and simple, though not boring, with a geometric triangular pattern that brings an effortlessly stylish vibe to the space. But on a practical level, this piece really impressed me.

If you're not familiar with the beauty of Ruggable, the brand's patented rug system comes with two pieces: a rug cover featuring the design, and a rug pad, which can be either classic or cushioned. The rug cover is lightweight, water and stain resistant, and machine washable, which makes it easy to vacuum over and spot clean. It clings seamlessly over the nonslip rug pads. I chose a classic rug pad because I prefer a flatter carpet, but I took comfort in knowing I could easily swap it out for a cushioned one if I wanted to in the future. Plus, setting up the rug was a breeze, and I haven't had to adjust it since.

After more than three months with my Ruggable piece, I'm more than satisfied with the addition to my apartment. It has withstood spills and dirty crumbs while upgrading the space for just under $300. Shop the exact round rug below.
