My favorite jewelry tree was no longer able to hold the weight of metal attached to its branches and had toppled over so many times that its contents were nothing more than a tangled mess. I was finally forced to reorganize my jewelry into something more functional by using two small shelves in my closet and making the most of the vertical space within.

By using two shelves in my closet, my jewelry is neatly organized, easy to see, and always within reach. But it wasn't always this organized.

This disheveled mess used to sit on my dresser. The overloaded jewelry tree was constantly falling over and my dated jewelry box was less than appealing. By taking two shelves from my closet, I made a cohesive space for all my jewelry.

By hanging a key rack on the shelf wall, I was able to acquire some much-needed extra storage. Key racks are a great way to utilize the vertical space that's often available yet often forgotten.

Next I used two bathroom organizers to neatly stash my smaller items. The clear organizer keeps the smaller pieces organized and easy to see.

A crystal ash tray on the shelf keeps my everyday jewelry within quick reach.

And an antique mirror keeps everything in check.

If you have limited space for storage, organizers are a great way to stash small items. But don't forget to take advantage of the vertical wall space that's usually available to you.
