I love a good Ikea hack (I mean, have you seen this amazing play kitchen?!). The store's products are already pretty fun and functional to begin with (unless you have to build something substantial with your significant other), but you can really make them your own with a little creativity. One of my favorite hacks? Using Bekvam Spice Racks (yes, spice racks) as book shelves.

I originally discovered the tip via The Sweetest Digs and couldn't resist trying it out in my son's bedroom. While I was a little skeptical at first (I've tried so many hacks that just don't live up to the hype), this one instantly won me over, and I've told just about everyone I know about it. It's quick, easy, and looks really nice once completed. Keep reading to see what I mean!

Each spice rack can easily hold five or six books, but I like to display just a few of his current favorites so they're easy to find.

These shelves can be installed vertically (like we did here) or horizontally, depending on the space you have available.

We keep some of our son's most special books out of reach, but we hung these shelves so they would be the perfect height for him to grab his favorites at any time.

These shelves come in a natural wood finish that can easily be painted to match your decor.

Because of their compact size, these book shelves are great for small areas (like this tiny patch of wall next to our closet) that you might not otherwise be able to use.
