John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's New York Home Isn't What You'd Expect

While most house hunters flock to spaces flooded with natural light, John Legend and wife, Chrissy Teigen, were looking for the exact opposite. Featured in Architectural Digest, the loft-like apartment they chose offers a certain cozy charm the couple couldn't resist. Having recently sold their bright and airy LA home, John and Chrissy wanted a dark and moody place in New York. Case in point? One of Chrissy's favorite features: a kitchen window facing a brick wall. "I absolutely love this. I'd rather have a wall than a view of the Empire State Building," Chrissy says.

Designer Don Stewart, who also worked on the couple's LA home, helped make their vision a reality by renovating the one-bedroom apartment with rustic wooden wall treatments, moody neutrals, and metallic accents. The result? A sophisticated yet comfortable space we can't help but envy. Take a tour!

A soothing palette of gray, black, and purple sets the tone.

The kitchen's custom backsplash and flashy stools give it a one-of-a-kind edge.

Wide-plank wooden walls add loads of warmth to John's piano room.
