A few years ago I was cruising the purse department at Nordstrom and overheard a sweet-looking lady in her 70s call her husband over to pay for her goodies while she told the salesgal, "he doesn't get any honey unless he shows me the money." I immediately burst into laughter. Still, as silly as it sounds, maintaining a healthy attitude about finances in a long-term relationship requires a balance of humor, clear communication, and shared expectations.

As PartySugar mentioned, this year, Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year fall on the same day, which will make for an interesting celebration. On Sunday, I'll actually be ringing in the Lunar New Year with some close relatives, Chinese banquet-style, so I'm reserving the day before to enjoy with my guy. We're keeping it simple and making his favorite meal together: spaghetti topped with giant meatballs, sautéed Winter greens, and traditional shortcake and Champagne for dessert.

Kerry Miller is the one-woman operation behind the blog Passive-Aggressive Notes; a collection of "painfully polite and hilariously hostile writings from shared spaces the world over." A site that started as a way to chronicle annoying roommate habits has since grown into a vibrant online community. In fact, I love the site so much, I've featured it twice; first back in 2007 shortly after its launch, and again last year.
