The folks at Sunset Magazine never cease to impress me with their crafty chic makeovers. Believe it or not, this sunny yellow plant stand used to be a metal stool that had seen better days. Sunset staffers removed the seat and sanded and spray-painted the frame.

If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area this weekend, head down to Menlo Park, CA, for Sunset Magazine's Celebration Weekend. While there are plenty of booths, activities, and displays I'll be sure to hit, my first stop will be this year's Sunset Idea House. Each year, the Idea House features progressive home designs that incorporate green materials and practices with Sunset's love of indoor/outdoor living.

This coming weekend, June 6 and 7, as part of its Celebration Weekend, Sunset magazine will be hosting a flea market of sorts at its Menlo Park, CA, campus. They've cleaned out their prop closet, editor's sample closets, and Idea House furnishings and will sell a large selection of home and garden treasures which have appeared in the magazine to you! Prices will range from $1 to $20, and all proceeds will benefit charity.

Sunset magazine recently featured the 154-year-old Victorian home of a Napa Valley couple that had great bones, but was bogged down with layers of wallpaper and colored with garish blue paint. The home had been neglected for 30 years, but a lot of hard work combined with the couple's pared-down aesthetic transformed it into a welcoming, light, and airy space that any of you would swoon over. This week I thought I'd we'd get the grill going with a nice big tri-tip. My mom is a sucker for bbq and I know she especially loves a good tri-tip, so when I saw this recipe I thought it would be nice to try on Mother's Day. The tri-tip is marinated in a nice shiraz (aka syrah) and soy combination, making it the perfect dish to throw onto a smokey bbq.

This weekend my dad was helping me make a lime tart for Easter dinner's dessert. We were working in my brother's kitchen, which is beautifully remodeled, yet lacking in the essential kitchen tools. The lime tart was my best option because it required no hand mixer or food processor.

Jennifer Aniston grinned as she left one of her regular spots, Sunset Tower, in LA last night. She's been working hard to plug her new film with Aaron Eckhart, Love Happens, which also made Buzz's list of Fall romances to watch. The story has Jen's character falling in love with a self-help author and the actress opened up in an interview about her feelings on advice books and more.

On a recent weekend, I had the opportunity to attend Sunset's Celebration Weekend, an outdoor event dedicated to all things lifestyle, from gardening to home improvement to, of course, food. The festival, which took place under a shining sun at Sunset magazine's headquarters in Menlo Park, CA, featured cooking demos from chefs like Cindy Pawclyn, Jamie Lauren, and Aaron McCargo, Jr.; composting seminars from Sunset editors; wine tastings; and vendors selling fresh greens, molés, and gelato. There was tons of food and drink to sample: I spotted everything from grilled sausages to watermelon beer to the tallest strawberry daiquiris known to man.
