Even full-grown people need a little boost sometimes. If you've got high shelves in your closet or tall bookcases around the house, use a child-size chair to give you the little lift you need. They're more charming than a regular old step stool, and they'll double as seating for the little tykes you know.

I know the line goes, "Four legs good, two legs bad," but one leg never got a bad rap, did it? Joe Nunn's Toadstool (inquire for price), which rests on a single, stake-like leg, makes me wonder why the phrase doesn't start off with "One or four . .

If you love the look of wood, but want something that's a little more refined, check out the jewel-like bevels on this West Elm Beveled Side Table (originally $199, now $99.99). In fact, they're so versatile they could easily be used for plant stands, stacks of books, a place to rest your feet while lounging in a living room .

If the words "winter wonderland" could ever translate to interior furnishings, he's pulled it off.

Made from pieces rescued from the streets of London and slices of solid timber, the And Made Lost and Found Stools (inquire for price) address our throwaway culture by transforming disregarded furniture into one-of-a-kind furniture pieces. I feel like these stools make too much of a statement to blend easily into a residential interior, but I certainly can see them in a café or restaurant interior, which is what they were originally designed for. Putting aside their eco-consciousness, do you like the look of these pieces?

Hi CasaSugar!
I am working on wrapping up my living room and would love to get a petrified wood stool and a ceramic white stool similar to those in Monique Lhuillier's house (that I am totally in love with), which was featured on an Elle Decor cover a year ago.
I've talked to Hudson Furniture in New York — they have the petrified wood but they sell at $1,200-2,000 each.
