I've written about many common types of storage and even some that have stumped you. But, never a spoon cabinet. Only the Aussies (OK, and maybe the Brits) would designate an entire cabinet on the wall just for their spoons.

After reading The End of Overeating and learning the importance of avoiding bliss point foods, I reevaluated my relationship with Nutella. The chocolate hazelnut spread makes no pretense as a healthy food, but I occasionally pick it up for baking. The only problem being that I usually only use half the jar, and the rest sits in the cabinet calling my name.

Last week, while spending time on the beach and building sandcastles with my kids, I realized that though the molding kits are tailor-made for the task, there's a more economical and ecological way to create sand art — using gadgets collected from the kitchen. When wooden spoons and spatulas have worn out their culinary welcome, they make perfect utensils for writing in the sand and carving out details on sediment sculptures. Tie a napkin to their handles and they are flags ready to adorn a fort.

Honey is all the buzz. Not only does it taste like Summer, but it has some amazing qualities that help your body. It's antimicrobial because of its high sugar content, so it's great for treating cuts and burns to prevent scarring.

The other night I got home from work and was starving. Unfortunately we had late dinner plans that evening, so I couldn't chow down too heavily. We also had limited supplies in our cabinets; there was no bread, crackers, or fruit to snack on.
