In honor of Jonathan Adler and Simon Doonan's impending nuptials, I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at what their married life at home away from home looks like. USA Today recently interviewed them in their Shelter Island, New York home, which Doonan aptly described as, "a fully branded home." The space is in many ways the love child of a Jonathan Adler shop and a Barneys window display (Doonan is creative director) — bursting with energy, color, creativity, and Adler's inventory.

The stars arrived looking glam last night, and they were all there to see who would receive the statuettes at the Primetime Emmy Awards! 30 Rock and Mad Men were both big winners last night, taking the top Comedy Series and Drama Series trophies. Thankfully, there were improved plans in place before the recent hurricanes hit, but I'm reminded that plenty of pets still need help in the storms' aftermath. Shelters including the Houston Humane Society and the Galveston Island Humane Society are working around the clock to photograph all the arriving animals to help keep track of the pets, and locate their owners. Much of the area is still without running water, electricity or gas .

Yesterday, Hurricane Dolly made landfall in Southern Texas in the town of South Padre Island, with 120 mph winds ripping roofs off homes, pouring down rain, and sending residents looking for shelter. Contact with land brought the winds down from category 2 speeds to category 1, and now flooding along the Rio Grande has become the main concern over the next few days, thanks to Dolly's "sluggish nature."
Over 3,000 residents of low-lying areas by the river and the coast went to crowded schools for shelter.

- South Africa Sets Up Camps: South Africa is about to create seven refugee camps around the country for foreign migrant workers who have fled a recent wave of anti-immigrant violence. Taking the pressure off of the increasingly unsanitary conditions currently housing the workers at temporary shelters put up around state buildings, the new camps will take up to 70,000 people. Respected international aid agencies have advised the government not to set up camps as they say South Africa does not have the expertise necessary to run them.
