The film follows an aspiring actress who's secretly in love with a director, but is stagnating in a bad marriage. It's also chock-full of fun, colorful interior design ideas. Casa Quickie: Mix Curtain Patterns

In this scene from Tyler Perry's new movie I Can Do Bad All by Myself, I was struck by the great use of pattern in the curtains in this loft apartment. Not only are the two different patterns complementary, but the differing weights of the curtains also works out well. The more sheer curtains can be used for privacy during the day, while still letting sunlight filter in. At night, pull both sets of curtains for maximum privacy and comfort. Have you tried mixing curtain patterns at your home?

Over-the-Top Decorating Ideas From But I'm a Cheerleader

My sister and I recently caught But I'm a Cheerleader on HBO the other night, and my jaw dropped at the awesome, over-the-top set design of the film. It's been years since I've seen the 1999 satirical romantic comedy, whose plot follows the "re-education" of a group of gay teenagers at a therapy camp meant to make the teens heterosexual (spoiler alert: it doesn't work). Fittingly for a movie that borrows a John Waters-esque vibe, the set design embraces a vivid, surreal look, including lots of pink, pink, pink for the girls.

Hunkering down in Nancy's mother-in-law's house, the family set about remaking their lives. The grandma-style design of this house delighted me last season. Great Set Design From 2009's Emmy Nominees: Big Love

While Big Love is nowhere near as hip as Mad Men when it comes to its sets, there's no denying that the careful crafting of the show's look adds depth to the series. Since the show's central thesis is the importance of family (even if it is a rather unusual family), the set design reflects that idea, as well as the personalities of those family members. The Authentic Look of HBO's True Blood

Although True Blood has had an uneven first season (the finale was last night), I'll still be tuning in next year. I have to find out what happens with my favorite characters, and I can't wait to see how the plot develops. One element of the show that I really enjoy is its authentic look, which is crafted by the nimble art and set direction of Bill Law and Catherine Smith. Filmed in Los Angeles and Shreveport, LA, the show's set design embraces small-town Southern style that is imbued with a creepy dread. Source

Turn It Off and Get Outside: National Day of Unplugging

I'm not going to lie to you. I'm a huge fan of technology because it not only makes my life easier, but it supports my healthy lifestyle. I'm grateful for my treadmill on rainy days, my iPod's tunes and healthy apps to motivate me to get moving, and my heart rate monitor that tells me how hard I'm working. I do realize that technology is often overused and abused, and many people would rather sit on the couch watching endless hours of TV or playing video games, rather than taking a walk in the park.

The nonprofit group Reboot realizes this as well and is launching a new project called Sabbath Manifesto, "designed to get overworked and overstressed young techies to rediscover the novel Biblical concept of a day of rest."

This Saturday, March 20, marks this first National Day of Unplugging, which means no cell phones, computers, TVs, Twitter, or Facebook. Besides avoiding technology, the other nine principles associated with this day of rest include connecting with loved ones, nurturing your health, getting outside, avoiding commerce, lighting candles, drinking wine, eating bread, finding silence, and giving back.

As you're reading this post, you've already broken the first principle of avoiding technology, but it's not too late to grab your favorite person and go for a walk outside to nurture your health and take a break from being plugged in. Tell me, are you into this idea of setting aside one day each week to ditch your laptop and iPhone and get back to the important things in life, or do you think it's a silly idea?

Would You Buy a Hanging Chair?

I spotted this chair in photos from the new Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning flick The Runaways, out today, about Joan Jett's 1970s all-girl rock band. The set designer really nailed this one on the head, seeing as hanging chairs were in their heyday in the '70s - especially after Eero Aarnio debuted his iconic Bubble Chair in 1968. The chair looks fab here with its corduroy cushions and that groovy labyrinthian wallpaper. But I fear a hanging chair would look too dated out of context. What do you say? Would you buy one?

The new rom-com The Bounty Hunter starring Jennifer Anniston and Gerard Butler premieres in theaters today. A tale of a man hired to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife, the plot is as predictable as it sounds. But there's no doubt I'll watch this guilty pleasure, if only for the interior design eye candy.
