Anthropologie's design director, Johanna Uurasjarvi, debuted the newest collection of Leifsdottir at NY Fall Fashion Week. In an example of life imitating art, the line was inspired by Salvador Dalí and the sensual, Spanish lifestyle. Think sculptured silhouettes, painterly brights, leather, lace, silks, and sculptural draping.

Movie Preview: Robert Pattinson in Little Ashes

The tag line for Little Ashes declares that this is a story that has gone untold - until now. The film follows three of Spain's great creative minds in the tumultuous setting of 1920s Madrid. Robert Pattinson plays Salvador Dali, Javier Beltran is Federico García Lorca, and Matthew McNulty takes the role of Luis Buñuel in this tale of art, lust and history. From the trailer it appears that there's an emphasis on the lust part, not so much on the actual art or history parts. Visually the film looks pretty cool, though, and it's an interesting topic for sure. To watch the trailer and let me know what you think, read more.

Could Just Anyone Write Johnny Depp's Movie About Dalí?

A New Zealand newspaper is claiming just that.
According to the New Zealand Herald, Johnny Depp is set to play surrealist painter Salvador Dalí in the film Dalí. All he needs now is a script. And apparently he doesn't really care who it comes from - just as long as it's good.

Anyone.
The paper claims Depp is holding "open auditions" to find the right screenwriter. A source in the story says, "He's open to working with anyone - from housewives to pensioners - if the script is right." Now, how credible this source is remains to be seen.

What is it about Salvador Dalí biopics?
In addition to Depp's Dalí, Al Pacino is set to play the artist in Dalí and I and there has been talk of another one titled Goodbye, Dalí with Peter O'Toole. When asked about this shared interest in the painter 18 years after his death, Dalí producer Peter Rawley offered, "Filmmakers somehow pick up on the vibe. But three films is nothing, at one stage, we counted up to nine."

Fab Flash: House of Schiaparelli To Be Restored

Update: Olivier Theyskens was thought to maybe take over the helm but sources have confirmed this false. 2010 is the date we can expect to witness the revival.

Before you know it, we may have another storied fashion house back on our hands. The Italian business mogul Diego Della Valle, who also owns Tod's, bought the rights to Elsa Schiaparelli earlier this year.

Ever since, he's been on the hunt for a designer to bring the house, most famous for its 1937 surrealist lobster evening dress collaboration with Salvador Dali, back to its former glory. Talks with Roland Mouret fell through, but WWD is reporting that British designer Giles Deacon has risen to the top of the pile. Exciting!

If you haven't heard of Janelle Monáe, you are missing out. Seriously. The Grammy-nominated singer has a smooth but strong voice like felted cashmere, feet like Fred Astaire, and style like nobody else. Fresh off supporting tour dates with Erykah Badu and No Doubt, she's sharing her high-energy show at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on July 4, followed by a performance July 6 at Afro-Punk in Brooklyn. On Our Radar: Schiaparelli Auction

Whilst the Schiaparelli revival talks continue, forty of her classic pieces are preparing to be auctioned in Paris. Many of the pieces, including this shocking-pink and black dress, are from the 1930s and will be sold alongside pieces by Jean Patou, Gabrielle Chanel and Christian Dior.

The sale will take place in Paris on 3rd July at Drouot-Richelieu auction house. There will be items from the key eras of fashion from 1920s to 1980s.

If you're not familiar with Schiaparelli's designs, she was an important factor in the development of 20th century fashion. She is widely credited with creating shocking pink and produced surreal dresses inspired by Salvador Dali, like the shoe-hat or the lobster dress.

FABTV: Ozzy Osbourne "No More Tears"

I wanted to start the year off with an epic FABTV. Something dramatic, something emotional. Ozzy is in order. I'm not so into sappy music. When I need a release, I turn to serious rock. This surreal video is a slight ode to Salvador Dali, with the nondescript set, red-lips sofa, and eyeball paintings. Dali is one of my favorite artists. As for the girl who cries herself into oblivion, I dig her metallic silver jacket and turquoise opera gloves. And those guitar riffs - epic.
