Dear Casa, I was thumbing through the July/Aug 09 issue of Elle Decor last night and fell in love with Monelle Totah's striped black and white rug on page 71. Any ideas on where I can find that rug or a similar one? I love the triple-stripe look.

Lighten up. Flat-woven rugs are ideal for Summer because their shallow construction keeps things cool, and they're easy to clean. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't be as stylish as your heavy wool Winter rugs.

Richard Hutten's Playing with Tradition Rug for I + I is a cheeky design, blending a traditional Persian style rug with a striped, barcode-like pattern. Both patterns would stand well on their own, but together they make a much more intriguing statement. What do you think?Source

Su Casa member Kimpossible recently bought a new outdoor living set for her back patio from Walmart. It's a great set, with such warm colors, ideal for Summer entertaining. She says, "I have plans to either buy an outdoor rug for the set or paint one on the concrete if I can't find one reasonably priced."

While I think a good shag rug is great for creating a cozy wintry vibe in your home, when the temperature rises, it's time to switch it up. To achieve a cooler look and feel to combat the heat of Spring and Summer, go with a flat weave Dhurrie or plastic floor matting instead.
