With the start of 2009 comes the chance to make another batch of New Year's resolutions (here's hoping you haven't already broken yours!). Every year, I find that a few of my resolutions are entertainment related, and this year is no exception. In 2009, I resolve to see all the Oscar-nominated movies before the Oscars, keep a list of all the books I read, and delete programs from my DVR if I haven't watched them within a month.

I always write New Year's resolutions down on paper — even if they are unrealistic, or even if I lose the list, as this person did. (The person who found it found it at an ATM machine in Athens, GA!) Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday in French and in the Catholic tradition it is your last chance to party it up before Lent, the 6 week preparation for Easter. Lent is a somber time, Mardi Gras's antithesis and it lasts a lot longer too. During Lent you are supposed to abstain from earthly pleasures or give up bad habits and indulgences to make your life more simple and "clean."

Is your New Year's Resolution to work out more?
Here's a good idea: Try adding a bit more to what you are already doing, instead of trying to incorporate a complete work out overhaul. Do something as simple as adding just a few minutes to your work out.

If you're trying to get fit for 2009, you're certainly not alone. When setting New Year's resolutions, sometimes you'll have better luck focusing on several small goals than one major one.
