Ranunculus may be my favorite cut flowers of all time. In looks, they remind me of a cross between a poppy and a rose, but with a longer vase-life than the former and less pretension than the latter. These bulb perennials have bright yellow, red, orange, or white flowers (if white, they will have a yellow center).

The other day one of my sister's friends stopped by with a bouquet of pretty pink flowers from her garden. They were ranunculus (pronounced ran-UN-kew-lus) a small camellialike bloom that ranges in color from red to yellow to pink and white and grows here in the Western United States during springtime. Wildly popular, there are over 400 different species.

Last year, I decided to install a "window box" on the inside of my bedroom window. In part, I did it because the outside view is completely saturated in plant life, and wrestling exterior window space away from the bougainvillea is a thorny proposition. I also like to take risks with some quirky interior accents, especially if they can be changed out fairly easily.

I don't think I've ever received flowers and not loved them. I love tulips, roses, ranunculus — I'm not picky at all. OK, I'm not a fan of carnations, but even then.

HEALTH GUIDE REFERENCE FROM A.D.A.M
The varicella–zoster virus (VZV) can cause two diseases: chickenpox (varicella) and shingles (herpes zoster). Before a vaccine was developed in 1994, chickenpox was a common contagious childhood disease that produced itchy blisters but rarely caused serious problems. However, if adults who had not had the disease as children contracted it, it could cause more serious complications.

I recently had a chance to sit down and talk to one of San Francisco's top floral designers, Laura Little of Floramor Studios, about flowers, weddings, and upcoming trends. Laura has a rich passion for the beauty of nature and a grand respect for fine arts that is reflected in all of her arrangements. Established in 1984, Laura and her team have been working with brides non-stop for the past 22 years and have orchestrated the design concept for over 3000 events.
