This Just In: Nic Cage Lists a Historic Rhode Island Estate

Real estate hobbyist Nicolas Cage is at it again. The actor has listed a historic 24,664-square-foot, 12-bedroom, 10-full-and-3-half-bath estate in Newport, RI, for $15.9 million, according to Real Estalker. Cage purchased the monumental English manor-style estate just last year for $15.7 million. It's unclear whether he purchased the property furnished, but it seems furnishing the sprawling home alone would cost much more than the $200,000 raise in price. Out and About: Rhode Island's Seal Watch Tours

Starting today, Save the Bay Narragansett offers hour-long Seal Watch Tours ($20) departing from Bowen's Ferry Landing in Newport, RI. Seeing seals is much easier with ship-provided binoculars, and local species include Harbor, Gray, Harp, and Hooded Seals. The best time to spot them is when low tide falls in the middle of the day because that's when they stop feeding and "haul-out" onto their resting spots!

Educators provide commentary on the Bay's migratory seals while the boat heads to the popular haul-out near Rose Island. Tours run on weekends (and school holiday weeks) from November 1 through April 30, with departure times based on tides and weather.

If your pup should run out (or crave something a little more substantial), this hotel also offers Canine Room Service from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily!

While in Newport, visit national historic site, Touro Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in the US, and the only one that survives from the colonial era. Pups are welcome on the grounds, but not inside – consider taking them for a stroll down historic Bellevue Ave (and stop by the actual Cricket & Riley store seen here) instead.

Cell Phones From MTV's 'Newport Harbor'

As far as I'm concerned MTV's new teenage reality show Newport Harbor will never rival Laguna Beach, or The Hills in the drama or glamor departments, but it might give both shows a run for their money when it comes to number of cell phone and gadgets scenes in each episode. I was flipping through channels the other day and can confirm what communication experts have been saying for months: Teens don't need e-mail, cause they text message.

After a little research (no, I couldn't sit through an episode, but I could do some internet searching) I learned Chrissy has cell phone issues cause her father always calls to check up on her. Allie likes to leave mean voice-mails on her LG phone and Chase likes to call Taylor incessantly when she goes on dates with other guys. If only my problems were so simple.

In other reality news, ABC is developing a show in which young married couples will compete for cash, writes Mediaweek.
Following in McCartney's footsteps, Joni Mitchell signs to Starbucks' Hear Music label, reports Billboard.
Variety reports that Disney will discourage depictions of cigarette smoking in their movies, and will include PSA's about the dangers of smoking on DVDs of movies that do have smoking.
MTV is moving up the coast for "Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County," a new "Laguna Beach"-style show, writes the Hollywood Reporter.
Coldplay tells NME that its new album has a Hispanic theme.
Hollywood Reporter has news that Michael Rappaport will be joining the cast of "My Name Is Earl."
R. Kelly is "Trapped in the Closet" for 10 new installments of the bizarre film series, which will premiere on IFC before an Aug. 21 DVD release, Billboard reports.
Apparently, JJ Abrams calls Greg Grunberg his "good luck charm," so Grunberg will appear in some way in Abrams' 1-18-08 project. ComingSoon has more info on Grunberg's report from the set of the movie.
