When it comes to jack-o'-lanterns, some of us enjoy carving a simple, toothy grin, while others go all out with templates, exacto knives, and downloadable patterns. I've found a mix of both to inspire your jack-o'-lantern creations this Halloween. These carved pumpkins look so good, they'll even add curb appeal when you display them on your porch!

MSN currently has a few downloadable stencils for creating your very own presidential (or vice presidential) pumpkins. While the designs are cheeky, and carving your very own Obama/McCain jack-o'-lantern is just another way to show your support, a part of me feels like maybe we should lay off of the politics for the light-hearted, child-oriented evening. Then again, I'm sure we all find certain politicians pretty scary!Source

Looking for a jack-o-lantern that even your glammest girlfriend would covet? Then check out jeweler Eddie Borgo's amazing dark and bejeweled pumpkin. This pumpkin was originally created as a housewarming gift for designer Victor Glemaud, but I think it would look amazing at any style-forward Halloween to-do this weekend.

Some people enjoy spending hours of planning and effort on their Halloween jack-o'-lanterns, and there's no arguing with the fantastic results. However, I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to my pumpkin — I usually just cut out a jagged-toothed grin, and leave it at that. What do you do at your house?

Before you throw out the guts of that jack-o'-lantern you've carved, try this basic, healthy recipe for roasted pumpkin seeds.
Pumpkin seeds are loaded with nutrients. They're high in both plant sterols, which may help lower cholesterol, and phytochemicals, which promote prostate health.

Since pumpkin is high on my list of healthy foods for a chubby or rumbly puppy tummy no matter the season, I feel the need to address those carved creations, if that's your kind of thing.
Not only can an open flame pose a danger, the unlit pumpkin is not pet-safe! While the fresh stuff is fine for furry friends, don't leave the jack-o'-lantern within paws' reach — after being carved and exposed to air, the vegetable grows bacteria and mold, which is very dangerous to doggies.

Trying to trick your children out of sweet and fancy treats like Goblins, Ghosts and Spider Cupcakes?
Add a little festive flare to their breakfast by making pumpkin pancakes! Not only is pumpkin a great source of beta-carotene, vitamin C, and potassium, but a sprinkle of cardamom will help aid the digestive system.

If you don't have time to get out to a pumpkin patch this season and carve a geeky pumpkin, you can probably fit in a Lego Jack-o'-Lantern!
The Lego website has step-by-step instructions on how to put it together, and all you need for your own 3D Lego pumpkin is two sets of Lego pumpkin packs and some patience.
It certainly beats trying to get that pumpkin muck out from under your fingernails!
