While I usually clean my bathroom (or, ahem, I should say, my husband cleans the bathroom) with vinegar, baking soda, and Bon Ami, I decided it was time for a switch. And to be completely honest, this switch was pressured by the hubz's complaints about the overwhelming vinegar smell in our small bathroom space during cleaning. And I agree, it's definitely a pungent scent.

If you have kids or a significant other who tosses PJs on the floor in the morning, stop that clutter by asking your pillows to multitask. Just tuck the pajamas under bed pillows. Ask your kids (or your significant other) to take an extra two seconds to stuff their bedclothes beneath their bed pillows.

Before you hit the house with your dusting rag and spray bottle this weekend, pause a moment to consider anything else you could be doing to multitask. To save time, load dishes in the dishwasher to run while you're cleaning the house, or toss in a load of laundry. This way, you'll get more done in less time — which means you'll have more time to enjoy your weekend and the Spring weather!

ShopSmart magazine recently released the poll results from a survey conducted by the Consumer Reports National Research Center tracking the household cleaning habits of American women over the age of 18. In the May issue of the magazine, the poll's results will be included along with cleaning tips.
“We were surprised to find that women actually like to clean their homes, some even finding it relaxing!” said Lisa Lee Freeman, editor-in-chief of ShopSmart.

Of all of the messes to tackle in your home during Spring cleaning, the trash can is probably the stinkiest. OK, your compost is up there, too. Piles of leftovers rotting away for a few days in a warm plastic bag is not exactly my favorite scent.

For the easiest and cheapest way to get your mirror clean, dilute white distilled vinegar with water, and put the mixture in a spray bottle. Spritz your mirror and wipe it off with a newspaper. When you're done, the paper can go straight into your compost, so this method's not only cheap, it's eco as well.
