Ben Stiller Meets the Market

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor have put their 10-bedroom, 11-bath Hollywood Hills compound on the market for a cool $12.5 million.

The 1929 Spanish-style spread includes two houses and a one-bedroom guest house on an acre of lushly landscaped grounds. It boasts beautiful terracotta tiles and colorful inlays, a magnificent pool, an outdoor dining and living area with built-in seating, French doors, three fireplaces, six garage bays, hardwood flooring, and naturally, a home theater. The house looks flawless and is a great example of a California hacienda-style home. But what really impresses me is the property's privacy. Los Angeles has plenty of homes over $10 million sitting on a mere acre, and it baffles me that people would pay so much to live so close to their neighbors. The lush landscaping on Stiller's home though seems to offer ideal seclusion. See photos when you read more.

Christina Aguilera Takes Her Price Tag Down a Note

Back in April, I let you know that Christina Aguilera and husband Jordan Bratman were preparing to ditch their Steve Hermann-designed Hollywood Hills digs, if a doting buyer were willing to part with a cool $8 million. Well, according to Real Estalker, the couple has flown the coop, but are still sitting on the unsold property. While they've moved into the Osbournes' former abode, their Hermann-designed home, like many houses around the country, remains unsold. So, the couple has decided to chop a little over one million smackers off the asking price, bringing it down to $6.9 million. Ouch, right? Well, actually Aguilera paid $5 million for the property back in '03, so she'll still be making a nice couple mil. on the property — if it sells at this price. And the price was likely inflated to begin with, considering its couture Steve Hermann label. Check out more details and lots of photos of the digs in my previous post.

This Just In: Pete Wentz Bids His Bachelor Pad Adieu

Pops-to-be Pete Wentz has put his 9,070-square-foot, two-bedroom, three-bath late mid-century home in the Hollywood Hills on the market for nearly $1.8 million, according to Big Time. The listing for the property reads:

Sweeping 180 degree views of the valley to the Hollywood sign. Secluded celebrity Hollywood Hills hide-a-way. Hollywood Hills late mid-century. Open, light and bright floor plan with fantastic architectural details, land, pool, spa and outdoor BBQ entertaining area. Amazing theater. Office could be a 3rd bedroom space!

Wentz purchased the home in May 2006 for $1.6 million. He is presumably listing it because he's moved into the Beverly Hills home of his wifey Ashlee Simpson, which she purchased in January 2007. I don't currently have photos of the interior of Wentz's home but will of course share them with you as soon as I do. This Just In: Johnny Knoxville Splits the Hills

Jackass Johnny Knoxville has listed his three-bedroom Mediterranean in the Hollywood Hills for $1.7 million, according to Big Time. The listing for the property reads:

Turn-key Hollywoodland Mediterranean Villa, Circa 1924, complete w/views, lush grassy yard/gardens & large pool! Enter this st-to-st property through gated courtyard setting, to frml entry w/views across Great Rm w/vaulted ceiling & arches. Knoxville and his wife of 12 years are in the middle of a divorce, so that's likely the reason for the sale. The house is truly a gem, with great bones, 1920s character (much like Gwen Stefani's old digs), privacy, and lush landscaping. I cannot imagine why else he would put it on the market. This Just In: Ryan Phillippe Buys a Zen Palace

Ryan Phillippe has purchased a 5-bedroom, 7-bath home in LA’s Hollywood Hills for $7.175 million, according to Big Time. Built in 1998 by producer Sylvio Tabet, the home, appropriately named "Rising Zen" is a mixture of Asian and modern architecture, but has an overwhelming Zen presence to it. According to listing information, it features "a large separate private master suite, a Koi pond, maple floors, a step-down bar with an aquarium backdrop, a dining room with Shoji screen doors, two flat-screen TVs, a gym, an office, a media room, three additional bedroom suites, and city and ocean views," as well as a "60-foot eco-friendly pool, an outdoor shower, a fire pit, a bar, [and] a gazebo." I would never have pegged Ryan for a Zen guy, and maybe he's not. But I think once wiped of its innumerable Asian furnishings, the house's unusual architecture and city and ocean views make it a coveted crib, filled with light and a remarkable feeling of openness. This Just In: Nicole and Joel are on the House-Hunt

According to Real Estalker, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden took a gander at a three-bedroom, two-bath Cape Cod-esque home in the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday. The traditional style home is all kinds of precious and fit for a family of three with a small yard, pool, flagstone deck, new kitchen, carrera marble baths, gorgeous dark hardwood floors, french doors throughout, and lush landscaping. Can't you just see Harlow splashing around in that yard one day? Oh, and it's walled and gated, so it's paparazzi-proof! The asking price is $1.649 million, just a bit more than they paid for their humble NYC abode. I know it's probably staged, but I'm really loving the décor, especially how the series of frames on the shelf in the bedroom is used as a headboard. I was also a bit surprised at how good the modern furnishings look in the living room, even though the architecture of the house is traditional. I for one think it's adorable: quaint and private with all the fixin's. I'm a little turned off by the placement of the living room fireplace, though: doesn't it look odd?

This Just In: Frankie Muniz Gets a New Agent and Relists

According to Real Estalker, Frankie Muniz has relisted his home in the Hollywood Hills, which he originally listed in December 2007, with a new real estate agent and reduced his asking price from $3.875 million to $3.695 million. He paid $3.499 million for the 1,972-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 4-bath in January 2006. The original listing for the home reads:

A Stephen Moore design completely upgraded with the finest of materials. Open floor plan leads to pool and spa with outdr FP. Large master suite has pitched ceils, skylights, 2 large walk-in closets, and stunning bath with infinity tub. Full surround sound system. New fire sprinkler system. Beautiful landscaping throughout and romantic viewing deck with striking city views.

I suppose that Muniz, who in 2006 announced he was taking a break from acting to pursue a career in race car driving, doesn't also drive a hard bargain. Or, maybe now that Lauren Conrad has quit the Hills, he's eager to move. . . . Anyways, I'm kind of bummed not to see a race car bed in there.

This Just In: Christina Aguilera to Ditch Her Digs

Rumor has it, according to Real Estalker that Christina Aguilera and husband Jordan Bratman have put their 5,411-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 7-bath Hollywood Hills home on the market for nearly $8 million. Aguilera reportedly purchased the Steve Hermann-designed digs for $5 million in 2003, which was her third house at the tender age of 22. The pad boasts, "living and dining rooms, a screening lounge with wet bar, a 25-foot waterfall, and unobstructed views," and is decked in classic Hermann style, head to toe in neutral tones, full of fur throws and animal-hide rugs, and sleek and oh-so-Hollywood with black leather chairs throughout. I'm actually impressed; I expected "X-tina's" digs to bit more Z Gallerie meets b-baller (i.e. wildly tacky), and it's actually architecturally and visually intriguing. However, I'm baffled by the cowhide LC4 Chaise Lounge in the bathroom, and the closet full of white buttondowns. But, I guess that's just staging. Take a look and tell me what you think.

This Just In: Channing Tatum and His New House Are Hot

According to Big Time, Channing Tatum purchased a three-bedroom, 2,538-square-foot house in the Hollywood Hills, which was recently on the market for $2.9 million. According to listing info, the house, which looks to be the offspring of Swiss Family Robinson and The Jungle Book, boasts:

three baths, a separate den/media room, a bonus floor, a curved teak staircase, and flagstone fireplaces and patios, [ . . .] second-floor master suite with floor-to-ceiling windows, wraparound terraces, and 12-foot pitched wood and beam ceilings that give the feel of a "Balinese tree house."

It also features, "a guest house, a bluestone slate entertainment patio, a free-form swimming pool and a two-car garage, all on a 0.31-acre property." La dee dah. I suppose not even Stop Loss's box-office flunk can stop this hunk from living the baller bachelor lifestyle . . .

This Just In: Dido Sells Her House in Hollywood Hills

According to Big Time, Dido has sold her three-bedroom, 3,739-square-foot home in the Hollywood Hills "for an undisclosed price after it had been on the market for $4.6 million." She paid $4.15 million in September 2005 for the property. According to listing information, the house boasts:

A Hollywood Regency-style living room with a fireplace and views of the pool and grounds, a media room that also has views, a large dining room with French doors, a remodeled kitchen, and a large master suite with sitting areas, a gym, large closets, and a marble bathroom.

It also, "has two additional bedroom suites and sits on a 0.46-acre parcel that contains a large motor court." And, records show that her real name is Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O’Malley Armstrong! To see images of the digs, read more.
