Recently, heating expert Chris Cooper shared some advice for thrifty Winter heating. He's back, with some hints on how to cut your heating bills or to assist other families with their high heating bills. Chris notes that, "Research compiled by the National Fuel Funds Network proves that fuel poverty leads to 'heat or eat' situations, [where] families strive in vain for a safe balance between paying for food and paying for energy."

If you live in the northern hemisphere and haven't yet switched the direction of your ceiling fan's blades, now's the time to do so. You want to make sure that the blades' direction is switched from moving in a counterclockwise direction to a clockwise direction.
To do so, just flip the switch at the base so that the blades rotate clockwise (that's when you're looking up at it from below).

Most of our heating bills are naturally higher during these chilly, Winter months, but sometimes I forget to turn off my thermostat when I'm rushing out the door to work. That pushes my bill up even higher — and what a waste! A solution for forgetful people like me would be to invest in a programmable thermostat ($35).

On this week's Curb Your Enthusiasm Larry David gets in a heated argument that escalates into a physical fight with Rosie O'Donnell over their lunch bill. Larry insists he invited her and should therefore foot the bill, and Rosie declares she put her hand on it first so it's on her. Pretty soon the two are yelling, wrestling for the check and causing a gigantic scene.
