Are you ready to see more haunted houses? If my slideshow on California haunted houses wasn't spooky enough, I've just got the thing. New Orleans is perhaps America's most haunted city, so it's no surprise the place is full of ghosts and floating entities.

Have you been the victim of a haunting? More people than you'd think can relate a ghostly encounter in the dark hall of an old home. Interest in haunted houses never fades; we've been telling ghost stories for thousands of years, and ghosts keep popping up in literature and movies as well.

Back in college, I lived in a creaky, spooky Victorian with three housemates. One February night, when all three of my housemates were out of town, I heard creaking on the stairs outside my bedroom. The creaking wasn't random — it sounded like footsteps.

Prolific real estate investor Nicolas Cage is on the loose on a wild selling spree. Cage has already put his Las Vegas, Bel-Air, and Rhode Island properties on the market, and today we have news that he's listed his two properties in New Orleans. According to WDSU and Real Estalker, Cage has listed his historical property (shown right) in New Orleans's French Quarter, the most haunted home in the neighborhood, in addition to a Garden District mansion.

Now that we've "fallen back" into the dark, I thought I'd share some grim celebrity trivia with you. While flipping through a photo gallery of haunted "murder" houses at This Old House, I learned that Nicolas Cage is the proud owner of the most haunted house in New Orleans' French Quarter, which he bought for nearly $3.5 million. She writes, "I got married at Madrona Manor in Healdsburg. It’s such a beautiful old house, and the grounds are absolutely breathtaking.

Here's another ghost clip to get your blood pumpin'. While Betty Crocker here is making dinner for the evening, she notices a strange phenomenon-- the beans spilled on the floor are in conversation with the refrigerator magnets across the room. Spooky!

Although we've shifted our focus from tricks and treats to turkeys and stuffing, this morning while browsing the YumSugar Community, I couldn't help but marvel at the assortment of Halloween dishes you made and shared!
How cool is this haunted house cake that Kerryc5 made? Goes to show that gingerbread houses can be enjoyed at Halloween, too!

I'm not a big believer in haunted houses myself, but I remember one old Victorian that would make all sorts of frightening bumps and clatters in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. The house always seemed to spook my dog a little, too.
