In tough economic times, people are trying to make money any way they can — and one surprising example sneaks in community service too. In Harlem this weekend, five churches offered cash for weapons – no questions asked. Rifles, handguns, and shotguns were brought to the churches on Saturday and in return the unarmed were given a $200 bank card.

You may remember interior designer Sheila Bridges from our Designer Spotlight or from Domino and ELLE Decor, or her spot on the Fine Living network. Voted one of America's best designers, she can transform any space with a bold use of color and whimsical accents, while maintaining a traditional sensibility. She doesn't reserve these techniques solely for her clients though; her Harlem apartment is perhaps the best illustration of her knack for design.

It was big band week on The X Factor this week — not that you'd know from John & Edward's bizarre performance of "She Bangs" and Jamie Archer singing U2's "Angels of Harlem"! Saturday night's show featured Michael Buble mentoring the contestants, and a standout performance by Rachel Adedeji, who I felt improved greatly on previous weeks. Michael and Westlife performed on tonight's show as we waited for the results, which brought surprisingly bad news for Danyl Johnson and Miss Frank, who were the bottom two in the public vote after their performances on Saturday night.

You guys are hardly strangers to painting murals on walls, so why not welcome visitors with some artwork as well?

The Harlem home of American visual artist Cary Leibowitz (aka Candyass) is a melting pot of sorts, juxtaposing objects from different eras. Louis XIV furniture lives with psychedelic '70s lamps, optical wallpaper, neoclassical busts, and Victorian secretaries. Pop art is the lowest common denominator, as Leibowitz is a collector of Andy Warhol's works.

When Rihanna goes beauty shopping, she really goes beauty shopping. During a trek to the spa at Carol's Daughter in Harlem, she showed off yet another fun, risk-taking look. (Love her for changing things up all the time.) This time, she paired metallic blue eyeliner with a soft, shiny pink lip — and a punk-meets-pompadour hairstyle.

Prince Harry spent the weekend on official duties in New York City, paying his respects at Ground Zero, planting a tree at the British Garden at Hanover Square, playing with the kids at Harlem Children's Zone, and taking part in a charity polo match. A whole host of celebrities turned up for the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic on Governor's Island, including LL Cool J, Madonna, Marc Jacobs, Chole Sevigny and a newly brunette Kate Hudson. My girl Bella UK wants to know do you prefer Kate as a blonde or brunette?

Sarah Michelle Gellar held her growing baby bump while filming The Wonderful Maladys in Harlem yesterday. She has her big return to the small screen this Fall, but meanwhile the character that made her famous is making news with rumors of a Buffy movie remake. As of now, the film doesn't involve SMG, and the actress can focus her attention on her supposed baby girl coming soon.
