Wall stickers may be waning in popularity, but I still have a soft spot for any stickers made in particularly fresh designs. This Gnomes and Mushrooms Decal ($16) is one of the cutest things I've seen in a long time.
I have a keen affection for gnomes as it is, but when they're reinterpreted in solid black, they take on a surprisingly modern air.

This jolly set of CAKE Chrome Gnomes ($42) is new at Design Public, and I gotta get my hands on them. I know they're just decorative ceramic figurines, but they're so cute they make me smile. I almost wish they were s&p shakers—wouldn't that be better?

Ah, garden gnomes. What's not to love about these enduringly kitschy lawn ornaments? Thanks to a renewed pop-culture presence in Travelocity ads and the movie Amelie, garden gnomes have made a comeback in recent years, and in this latest movement, they're coming indoors as a part of playful home decor.

I love the retro look of the West Elm Mushroom Duvet Cover ($89 for queen). They remind me a little of the wacky patterns you see in some Mad Men interiors, but with a bit of Marimekko flair thrown in for good measure. In a 300-count cotton sateen, they're both fun and comfy.

Man Vows to Fight Garden Gnome Arrest Threat
I'm not a huge fan of gnome lawn ornaments, but this following news story is absurd. Englishman Gordon MacKillop was woken up in the middle of the night by policemen who served him with a notice for "placing a garden gnome with intent to cause harassment to Mr. John McLean," his neighbor with whom he'd had land disputes over the years. The police told him that the solar-powered gnome, dressed as a policeman, was intimidating potential buyers of McLean's home and that if MacKillop didn't get rid of it he could be arrested and prosecuted.

I'm a big proponent of homemade teethers like cold food, but natural remedies aren't practical when you're on the go. These Kammi Teething Dolls ($20) offer a simple solution to soothing baby's ailing gums. They look a bit like cotton gnomes, but the terrycloth dolls are crafted out of knots.

Maybe it was a natural follow-up to the garden gnome trend, but it seems as if the interior design world has gone a little wild for the mushroom motif as of late. From high-end fungi such as the Artifort Mushroom Chair ($2,529)
to more affordable items like the Paper Cloud Mushroom Pillow ($75), there's no reason not to ensure that each of our homes has some fungus among us.
Whether you like your mushrooms modern and candy colored or woodsy and lifelike, there's plenty to choose from in the design world.

Nick broke out of New York and joined us in Europe (more specifically, Italy) in last night's installment of Dirty Sexy Money. He hopped across the pond to investigate his father's plane crash further, in the guise of picking up some wine for the Darlings. Of course this was nowhere near all that happened, so here are some of my thoughts on the episode:
- Tripp and Letitia were dealing with the fall out of her admission to the affair with Dutch, Nick's father.
