As part of a fun holiday series, I've asked interior design "tastemakers," from designers and stylists to bloggers and shop-owners, to share their favorite go-to holiday gift ideas with me.
I chatted with interior stylist, expert flea marketer, Etsy seller, former Top Design contestant, and blogger Eddie Ross — a man of many talents — about his go-to gift ideas for the holidays and here's what he had to say:
I do have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to holiday gifts, but I'm always impressed with what my design-savvy friends give each year. So, I decided to ask some interior design "tastemakers" for their favorite go-to presents. From designers and stylists to bloggers and shop-owners, some of the brightest stars in the design world have shared their favorite holiday gift ideas with me.
Since I'm a design fiend, I think my friends expect to receive decorating gifts from me. But it really can be just as hard to shop for décor gifts as it is for clothes. Year after year, I struggle to find something that appeals to their tastes and lifestyles.
Do you have an iPhone? Then stop what you're doing right now and download the Nirvino (my preferred online drinking community) wine ratings guide. With over one million wines listed by name, price, grape varietal, flavor profile, region, and producer, the wine application is an amazing resource to always have at your fingertips.
Some of my girlfriends are pearl girls, while others favor pairs of bold '80s earrings. Some wear a few wide cuffs at a time, and for others, a delicate tennis bracelet will do. But regardless of what they wear, every girl has a bit of jewelry.
Like decorating your first apartment, decorating your baby's nursery is a really exciting task. But many new moms tend to forget that their $59 polyester pony mobile will end up in the attic within a few months. So if you're shopping for a holiday gift for an infant or a nursery-decorating friend, I recommend wrapping up a mobile that can act as décor long after a baby moves out of the crib.
Whether you're a vegetarian or not, going meatless is a growing trend, and you're certain to know a dear friend or family member who is. This holiday, show them you care by making selections that take subtle consideration of their lifestyle choices. For some practical — yet delightful!

Anyone who's ever lived in New Orleans recognizes the starry, art-deco design of the city's water meter lids. Designed by Edwin Ford in the early 1920s, the crescent moon and stars became so sought after that people actually used to pilfer them, so much so that for a time the city tried to replace them with plain ones to try to stop the theft. Nevertheless, the 85-year-old design has become an iconic symbol of the city — along with the fleur-de-lys, of course.
