Nice and New: Designers Guild Spring 2010

Punxsutawney Phil may have given us a few more weeks of Winter, but Designers Guild just debuted its Spring 2010 collection, so now the season is really here! The collection features exquisitely drawn florals along strong geometrics with an architectural influence. As always, the palette is fresh and feminine - lots of chartreuse, citrus, duck egg, pistachio, and pink peony, plus neutrals with energizing shots of vibrant hues. Designers Guild's strong suit is certainly textiles, and the new collection has showstopping bedding, rugs, and throws, but I was also blown away by the brand's new Lacquered Glass Tableware ($15-$38). Unless you're a designer, or hire one, you'll be hard pressed to ever see Designers Guild products on sale. So don't miss this chance! The retailer's soft floral prints, delicate embroideries, and modern weaves don't come cheaply, so even on sale they may be a splurge. But they're also high quality and statement pieces, so the price tag is worth it. I'm really loving the Ariana Bedding ($27.50-$90), the Giacosa Teal Rug ($595), and the Valencay Tourmaline Pillow ($45).

Nice and New: Designers Guild Cushions

London-based luxury fabric and wall-covering company Designers Guild is hands down one of my favorite retailers of home décor of all time. If you're in the market for indulgent, feminine, colorful, and sophisticated textiles, DG is the answer. I'm always particularly won over by the retailer's stunning collection of throw pillows ("cushions"), made from luxurious cut velvets and sumptuous silks, with delicate and unique embroideries. The latest cushion additions feature modern stripes, exotic florals, and updated paisleys in a perfect, macaron-esque palette. I'd love to own them all, but here are a few of my favorites, from top left: Whitewell Celadon ($140), Delancey Lime ($100), Bourton Peony ($140), Margot Rose ($250), Bourton Celadon ($140), and Madison Peony ($100). Roundup: Striped Table Linens

Stripes are the little black dress of tabletop décor. They're always in style. You can never go wrong with a good striped or broad-plaid tablecloth. For instance, I'm absolutely in love with the Designers Guild Dickenson print, and I don't see that changing . . . ever. It's a good thing, because a table cloth and six napkins will cost me $195. For now, I might have to treat myself to a set of four napkins ($40). But why stop there? There are so many striped table linens to love. See my other beautiful finds when you read more.

Crave Worthy: The Rug Company Durbar Hall Rug

It's no wonder I felt an instant attraction to The Rug Company Durbar Hall Rug ($1,795- $25,920); the chartreuse and charcoal flocked rug is designed by Designers Guild — a favorite luxury home furnishing brand of mine. Made of 100 knot, Tibetan wool and silk, it's a high-quality rug that would probably outlive me, if I could ever afford to make the splurge. Its flowing branches and botanicals are certainly feminine enough for a bedroom, but I'd love to see it in a formal dining room with a glossy credenza and a noir chandelier, tempered by a slightly rustic wood dining table. What do you think? Do you love it, or am I all alone on this one?

Coveted Crib: Mark Homewood's Mod Victorian

The eclectic early Victorian row house of Designers Guild buyer Mark Homewood was recently featured in the Brit shelter mag, Livingetc. The Stockwell, London house is full of contrasts, with white used as a backdrop for furnishings bold in both color and form surrounded by architectural details reflective of an earlier time. Crave Worthy: Designers Guild Throws

Talk about crave worthy: These Designers Guild Throws ($200-$225) are utterly delectable! Lambswool reversible jacquard with, in some cases, a fringed edge, and a bold punch of color land these throws on the top of my wish list. There's no reason you have to get cozy with a drab plaid blanket in the Winter months — why not warm up with the colors of Spring? Although the styling in these photographs is stunning, I have to say these throws have a certain je ne sais quoi of their own that has me inspired to spend.

Engaged Emily, Kristen and Anna Join Another Anna at Costume Designers Guild Awards!

A few of Hollywood's award season beauties came out for the Costume Designers Guild Awards in LA last night. Anna Kendrick has a big job on her hands picking her Oscars gown as a first time nominee, and she stood out in pretty white Elie Saab gown yesterday evening. If you're rooting for Anna or one of her fellow nominees, make sure to enter our Oscar ballot for a chance to win! Newly 27-year-old Emily Blunt slipped into something dark and stormy while Kristen Bell made her metallic choice a lot more golden. Blunt took home one of the night's prizes, the Swarovski Award while her The Young Victoria won for excellence in period film. Both engaged girls have some wedding planning in the works, as does another of the night's attendee's Anna Paquin.
