Sometimes even decorating a casual living space can become a formal process. So when I stumbled upon this casual yet polished room on Design*Sponge, a space that's quite easy to replicate, I thought I'd share it with you. The furnishings in this room are readily available, which will make getting this look in your home a breeze.

Design*Sponge recently took a sneak peek at the home of Chad Maltby of Sandbox Studio. While I certainly loved his home, I really couldn't help but notice that a lot of his furnishings look quite familiar. In particular, the chandelier, moose head, red side table, stump stool, throw pillow, and pink place mat all caught my eye.

"Lisa and Todd's PDX Bungalow" on Design*Sponge chronicles the makeover of makeovers. Creative couple Lisa and Todd purchased a foreclosed Portland home which had been "occupied by various squatters and approximately 50 cats," and which Lisa says smelled, "so bad people had to cross to the other side of the street when they came near the house." Ten dumpsters and a lot of hard work and devotion later, the place looks fabulous — a coveted crib, you might say.

This Numbers Green Occasional Armchair ($439), which I spotted on Design*Sponge, is made from a recycled chair frame and rare fabric remnants so it's one of a kind, and has a low environmental impact. Its upholstery is modern while its shape is a classic. I love how the multi-color numbers fabric is only used on seat backing; it prevents the busy pattern from overwhelming the eye (and the space).

Grace from Design*Sponge was gracious enough to throw a "Biz Lady Meet-Up" Tuesday night for San Francisco women involved in design, hosted by the DWR on Jackson St. There were several speakers there, including Grace, discussing small business concerns, marketing/PR, real life designer success stories, and retailing/wholesaling. The turnout was great (around 120 people), and it was really inspiring to see so many great women getting together to discuss shared interests and business concerns.

Design*Sponge is giving away an Eames Arm Shell Rocker, which was donated by Sparkability, to one lucky decorator! Considering that this beautiful rocker is in the top two of my long-term furniture wish list, I'm kind of in shock. I have to win .

Today's Steal of the Day is perfect for Dress Your Walls month. The Company Store is practically giving away these Octagon Wall Shelves at three for $34.
They remind me of design*sponge's recent DIY project.

I'm happy to report that my fellow blogger Victoria Smith, a.k.a. sfgirlbybay, and her magnificent San Francisco home were featured in the Aussie glossy, Real Living. Design*Sponge was nice enough to share beautiful photos from the issue, and I thought I'd pass them along as well.

Design*Sponge guest blogger Sweet Paul recently wrote a post about outdoor lighting in the Winter, with dreamy, snowy images of lanterns in the night. I nearly packed up my bags and hopped a plane to Vermont when I saw them — I miss snow! He offered a tutorial for creating these beautiful ice lanterns with frozen olive branches and other greenery that I absolutely love.

This gorgeous floor, which was hand painted by Catherine, won the Design*Sponge prize for best use of pattern in a home. I can definitely see why. I know a lot of friends who have concrete floors in their homes, but I've never seen any of them painted with patterns.
