The Skullrilla Ashtray ($25) by David Weeks takes a bite out of smoking habits. It's also got a primal and trendy skull quality, if you're looking for that sort of thing. Although this ashtray isn't quite my style, it's a dude-worthy gift for a smoker.

Industreal's The Last One Ashtray (about $20) could be seen as ironic or sincere, depending on who is using it. Either way, I think it's clever and chic. What do you think?

It's funny to me that Spoon's latest album of understated pop arrives packaged in very overstated décor. The record cover art of Transference, with a boy (a young Britt Daniel?) seemingly trapped in his parents' formal '60s living room, is beyond brilliant. From the excessively animated curtain sheers and draping jacquard valances to the ornate tufted cantaloupe-colored armchair to the oceanic seafoam walls and floors, this style of decorating is just so over the top.

If I had a smoking habit and these two items were my only ashing choices, I'd be sure to quit straight away. One gives me the option of ashing on Bambi (in the middle of a marble forest in Maryland), and the other beckons me to ash in the mouth of a lewdly gesturing man with painted fingernails. (I know, I know, his fingers will hold my cig for me—no thanks!) What's tackier?

There's nothing like going to a rock show, staying out late, coming home... and realizing that your hair holds the remnants of the club's cigarette smoke. I used to live by the Empty Bottle in Chicago, and before the city instituted its smoke ban, going to a show meant that my hair would smell like a dozen ashtrays.

Barack Obama may like to work out, but that doesn't mean he's snuffed out all unhealthy habits. Barack promised first-lady-to-be Michelle that he would quit smoking back in 2007 — that much we know. Yet it still remains unclear whether Barack successfully quit, and the president-elect hasn't given a direct answer, nor has the media demanded one.

Rachael Maddow is to Keith Olbermann as Stephen Colbert is to Jon Stewart. And just like Stephen, Rachel's new pseudo-Countdown spinoff is acquiring a fan base potentially more dedicated than its predecessor's. This weekend's New York Times Magazine caught up with the Stanford and Oxford grad-turned-progressive-MSNBC host, visiting her home in western Massachusetts where she lives with her partner Susan.

While I've told you about how to get the look of the Mad Men set, from Helen Bishop's living room to Don Draper's office, I still have more to share with you. The sets from this show are just too fabulous to ignore, so I'm going to take you through a few more ideas for recreating the show's unique, mid-century look.
There's something so decadent about Betty Draper's scenes at her psychiatrist's office.

Dear Sugar
I am 23 and I'm going through what I am sure lots of kids my age go through with their parents. I get along GREAT with my Mom, but my Dad has a habit of snooping through my room when I'm out. For example, I had a full ashtray on the top shelf of my closet yesterday and when I got home from work, the ashtray that was in my closet was now sitting on my bed - emptied.
