Recently reading a Fashionologie post on designers Dries Van Noten and Alexander McQueen's Spring 2009 collections, I couldn't help but notice the glass-top table in the photo of McQueen glaring back at me. If you're scratching your head wondering why it looks familiar to you, that's because it is. The table is a life-size sculpture of a woman as furniture with fetishist and sado-masochist overtones designed by British artist Allen Jones in 1969 as part of his very famous "Hat Stand and Table" series.

Many an A-lister made the trek to Dubai today to celebrate the grand opening of the Atlantis Palm Resort. Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson traveled from London to join Sam's mother Ann Dexter-Jones, while Mischa Barton will show up anywhere there's a red carpet. The eclectic crew, which included Mary-Kate Olsen all draped in white, Gerard Butler, Charlize Theron, and Stuart Townsend, was treated to dinner and an elaborate performance from Kylie Minogue.

Princes William and Harry joined a whole host of stars on the red carpet in London's Leicester Square last night for the Royal World Premiere of Quantum of Solace at the London Film Festival. Daniel Craig looked suitably suave alongside his partner, Satsuki Mitchell, and the famous females in attendance ignored the freezing weather and pulled out all the stops with their slinky outfits. Costars Gemma Arterton and Olga Kurylenko went for bright jewel tones, with Judi Dench wearing the most striking accessory of the night on her back.

After the glamorous arrivals it was time to get down to the nitty gritty of the GQ Men Of The Year Awards and give out the gongs. There were some fab photo opportunities as the stars collided – Dave Grohl and Bobby Gillespie looked like twins with their long hair, Josh Brolin got a kiss on the cheek from Thandie Newton, and a bewildered-looking Boris Johnson received his award from Trinny and Susannah. My favourite, James Corden, received his breakthrough award from Gavin and Stacey co-writer Ruth Jones, and Alfie Allen and Jaime Winstone had their engagement revealed by Alfie's sister Lily who introduced Jamie as "my future sister-in-law".

The GQ Men Of The Year awards ceremony took place in London last night, hosted by Lily Allen in front of a room full of famous faces. Lily wore a big attention-grabbing dress as hostess (which apparently proved slightly difficult to walk in), and spilled a terrifying story about her friend who was kidnapped and locked in a car boot for seven days. She said: "I just want to thank the Met Police.

Penelope Cruz looked stunning promoting Vicky Cristina Barcelona in Cannes Saturday, but there were two very noticeable no shows — her costars Scarlett Johansson and Javier Bardem. While Javier, who recently dropped out of a movie due to exhaustion, apparently skipped the event for family reasons, Scarlett's excuse is more dramatic. Apparently the starlet didn't come after the studio refused to fulfill her demands including her own make-up consultant and a separate hotel away from where the rest of her costars were staying.

More sex-centric potentially misogynistic furniture, anyone? The other week we brought you some sexy furniture in wood, and now we have this chair. This oddity was designed by Allen Jones in 1969.
