I named autumn perennials one of my must-haves for September. After all, just because summer is fading fast doesn't mean you can't enjoy gazing at a colorful flower garden for a few more months.
In fact, late summer / early fall is the ideal time to plant flowers that will bloom into the cold season.

Unlike an annual, a perennial plant is one with a life cycle that spans at least two years and blooms repeatedly throughout multiple seasons. A garden that primarily uses perennials will require less replanting and maintenance than one stocked with annuals. But while annual blooms stick around for months, a perennial flowering period is much shorter.

Rosario Dawson is a perennial Bella favorite, and her Independent Spirit Awards look keeps our admiration going. Elizabeth Edwards, wife of perennial presidential candidate John Edwards, has endured a PR crisis since publishing her book, Resilience, last year. Gone is the saintly image of the woman who does nothing but give and gets nothing but the death of a child, cancer, and a philandering husband in return. In its place are accusations that's she's a crazy fame seeker with the grossest disparity between her public and private image.

Is it any surprise that Nars won in this category? The perennial favorite, responsible for the looks-good-on-everyone Orgasm shade is always rated highly for its color selection and pigments. Benefit came in second, with fans of Benetint and their cheek powders lending their support.

I was inspired by either random creativity or divine procrastination to turn a stack of DWR catalogs and expired gossip glossies into festive Christmas trees. The project took me under 10 minutes to complete. My catalog collection has been piling up since Nov.
