It's still a buyer's market in the real estate world these days, and average American homeowners aren't the only ones bearing the brunt of it. In the last week, two celebrities have listed their homes on the market expecting a loss. Scarlett Johansson's 4,352-square-foot, four-bedroom, 5.5-bath hacienda in Los Angeles, listed at just under $5 million, is the most painful one: she purchased the property only three years ago for $7 million.

A superstar actor was spotted shopping on Wednesday at LA's hip home decor and accessories store, OK. The shop sells plenty of decorative items that would look great in his eco-friendly NYC condo, but it also sells jewelry that his model girlfriend might enjoy. Can you tell me who it was?

Textile designer Kathryn Ireland, whose fabulous home I featured on Casa (and covet), recently opened a West Hollywood, CA, store to display her wares. While you can also buy her products online or in showrooms, I'm partial to checking out Ireland's stylish shop in person.
In an LA Times article, Ireland notes, "I want [the shop] to be like my atelier sitting room .

Tattooed Transformers starlet Megan Fox has swooped up a 5,200-square-foot, four-bedroom, five-bath home in LA's Los Feliz for the measly sum of $2.9 million. Built in 1936, the Mediterranean-style house boasts restored original details, panoramic ocean and city views, custom hardwood floors, state-of-the-art security, and a pool with several terraces and lawn areas. The view alone would be enough to sell me, but it also has gorgeous features, including beautiful bones, white flat-fronted cabinetry, a Viking range, Carrara marble countertops in the bath and kitchen, and a free-standing tub.

Actor couple Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen have purchased an absolutely charming home in LA's Brentwood neighborhood for $3.11 million. The four-bedroom, three-and-one-half bath home has a great, wide, columned front porch met by a stone walkway and beautiful landscaping out front; it's a far cry from the sequestered, gated celebrity homes we often see. Inside, the home is very nicely decorated, with lots of color and comfortable furnishings; if I were them, I'd want to buy it as is!

Whenever I'm traveling to a different city, I spend some time looking into the eateries I must visit. Sometimes, the most recently acclaimed restaurant is at the top of my list, but more often than not, I'm out to try the city's most famed food institutions. On a recent trip to Los Angeles, I knew I had to visit Langer's, the Jewish delicatessen known for, as Nora Ephron once put it, "the finest hot pastrami sandwich in the world."
