I recently cut myself pretty badly while chopping veggies and when I went to my first aid kit to get some Neosporin, I realized I was all out.
So learn from my mistake and take some time this weekend to update your first aid kit and medicine cabinet. Throw out expired products and make sure you're stocked up on the necessities.

Having a first aid kit specifically for your pet in mind is a good thing to have, whether you're traveling with or without your pet, but it's also a smart thing to have around the house even when you aren't traveling. Packing a first aid kit and leaving it with your sitter instructions should be a must-do before you head out. There are more important things for your pet sitter to worry about if there was an accident than running around your place looking for bandages!

We've all got bathroom essentials to store that may not necessarily be for all eyes to see (you know what I mean), and of course we've got to have a healthy supply of first aid supplies. There's no reason, though, to throw them in a messy drawer, or let them pile up on the bathroom counter. With these red cross medicine cabinets, you can bring a little bit of pharmacy chic into your home without compromising your counterspace, and you don't have to be Swiss to own one.

Hurricane season is in full force, and here in California, there's always the chance of an earthquake. Even if you don't live in storm or quake country — but especially if you do — you should have an emergency preparedness kit stashed away.
The American Red Cross recommends having enough food and water on hand to support every member of your household for at least three days.

Recent natural disasters have persuaded me to have a first aid kit in my car. Not only is a kit great to have around in any emergency (major or minor), my first aid kit provides a peace of mind knowing that I will be prepared if something were to happen. Most often used element of my kit: antiseptic wipes and band aids!

While the Fourth of July can offer a lot of fun with friends and family, there are also some obvious hazards, from barbecue burns to out-of-control sparklers. There are many ways to keep your house, and your loved ones, safe on the Fourth, with a little common sense and prep work. Here are my suggestions:
- Keep a fire extinguisher close by.

OK, OK, I admit it: I'm a city gal through and through, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate nature! So many of my pals are taking off for camping trips this Summer, which leaves North and I here in SF to take in the beaches and day spas alone (oh, darn). But if we were to head out into the wild (or semi-wild .

I recently attended my first outdoor concert of the Summer and was dismayed, after a trip to the portapotty, to find that I had no hand sanitizer in my bag. I usually make it a point to carry antibacterial wipes or spray for all of my Summer hiking, camping, walking, and concert excursions.
Inspired by my newly updated first aid kit, I decided to assemble a Summer safety kit to toss in my backpack.
