The cotton flatweave Madeline Weinrib Zig Zag Rug is one of my all-time favorite designs (see it in a room here), but unfortunately it's also quite pricey — if you must "inquire for price," don't bother. Luckily, there are two much more affordable alternatives. To see them, read more

As the temperature rises, so does the need for sleek, welcoming outdoor furniture. The Teak Chaise Lounge ($1,340) by Maku Furnishings has a minimalist modern look that's warmed up by the teak wood used in its construction. The Maku Chaise features Häfele hardware, custom bracing, dovetail joinery, and wheels for easy transportation.

Designed in 1968 by Italian architect and designer Roberto Menghi, the Globo di Luce Pendant ($813-$1,170) is as captivating as it was 40 years ago. Blown glass defines the globe's shape, a transparent cable gives it the appearance of floating mid air, and its copper finish gives off a rich, warm light. It's practically solar.

The Nakashima Straight Backed Chair ($634) is a beauty, for sure. It was designed by architect George Nakashima, who was known to describe himself as “Japanese Shaker," for Knoll in 1948. But, this chair doesn't have the simple, possibly antiquated, look of most Shaker furniture; it's fresh and modern.

I've been fawning over the Duffy London Glo Canvas ($339) ever since I included it in my Modern Marie Antoinette Get the Look back in September 2007. Unfortunately, it hasn't gotten any cheaper, and I'm reluctant to spend so much on a transient style. Luckily, I've just come across a much more affordable alternative.

The Anthropologie One-Lump-or-Two Lamp ($198) is quite cute in a British country cottage way, and I adore its espresso cup finial. But, I'd say it's a tad overpriced for a table lamp that looks so crafty, and that doesn't come with a shade. Luckily, there's a more affordable alternative that can be customized to fit your color scheme.

This Aaron Thomas Hand Screen Printed Pillar Umbrella Stand ($389) was designed specifically for design fiend and international hotshot Kanye West. But, after Thomas carefully hand-illustrated the Roman-style pillar, burnt screens, and laid out the design, West ended up not purchasing them! It's made of acrylic and measures 10x 24 inches.

On a recent browsing (and buying) trip at Target, I couldn't help but suspect that Target and Anthropologie were taking inspiration from the same sources, since many of the stores' home interiors items looked surprisingly similar. A quick look online confirmed this to be the case. To see how to get the Anthro look for less, check out the slideshow.

The Ralph Lauren Architect Floor Lamp ($600) is a chic, classic, and polished design that's ideal for the traditional homes of those cable-knit-sweater-wearing women. I find it très élégant with its rich red mahogany, and I love how it references the three-legged design of a surveyor's tripod. And, while I'm sure it's a very sturdy and high quality, I couldn't bring myself to spend 600 smackers on a floor lamp that's not a statement piece (this guy's more of a filler).

As I think about warmer weather and less rainy skies, I'm excited to spend more time outside at a sidewalk cafe. However, it's sometimes hard to get to a cafe to lounge at one of their outdoor tables, so I'm hoping to get one for my own house. I adore this Pensi Cafe Table (shown here), but at $692, it's a little out of my budget.
