Do You Have Wallpaper in Your Bathroom?

The condensation from your showers and baths will eventually cause your wallpaper to peel, if you have it in your bathroom. So, it's a big no-no in my book. That is, unless we're talking powder rooms where you're only running the sink; in that case, I wholeheartedly approve! It's better to get playful with paint, like the stripes I painted in my bathroom. Do you have wallpaper in your bathroom? If so, has it peeled?

Would You Buy a Hanging Chair?

I spotted this chair in photos from the new Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning flick The Runaways, out today, about Joan Jett's 1970s all-girl rock band. The set designer really nailed this one on the head, seeing as hanging chairs were in their heyday in the '70s - especially after Eero Aarnio debuted his iconic Bubble Chair in 1968. The chair looks fab here with its corduroy cushions and that groovy labyrinthian wallpaper. But I fear a hanging chair would look too dated out of context. What do you say? Would you buy one?

Do You Have a Slanted Roof?

Slanted roofs can be a terror when you're trying to decorate - don't even think about placing a tall hutch or a canopy bed against a slanted wall. That is, unless you have lofty ceilings. But on the outside, slanted roofs look so pretty! And certain types of architecture (Colonial) couldn't really even exist without slanted roofs. Tell me, do you have one? Have you encountered decorating problems because of it? Or does it just affect your attic?

Do You Decorate With Branches?

I've really been loving the look of tall branches arranged in a vase lately. Of course, freshly-cut branches - like the ones from gorgeous pink cherry blossom trees - are always magnificent; remember seeing them on the set of She's Out of My League? I'm thinking about integrating some dried branches, like Billy buttons or Chinese lanterns, into my décor. It's a foolproof flower arrangement that's not faux and always looks fab! Do you decorate with branches?

Does DIY Create Trouble on the Homefront?

DIY in my house means do it yourself . . . with a tiny bit of help. I create, plan, and carry out the projects around the house, but sometimes I dream too big and must reluctantly call my husband for reinforcement. He and I were made for each other, but we weren't meant to work on home projects together; it's very rare that we finish a task without biting each other's head off. Then when the job is complete, we have a good laugh about how horrible we are at working side by side. I can't be alone here - does tackling projects around the house put you and your significant other at odds?

Will You Decorate For Spring Holidays?

Glittered eggs, fuzzy bunnies, and pastel cellophane will decorate many a dining room table for the next month in anticipation of one of Spring's most celebrated holidays. Easter is hopping up on us and I've yet to pull out any kitschy egg or chick paraphernalia. Perhaps I'll start slow and ease on into it with the linens and pull out the big ears when it starts to warm up a bit. How 'bout you? Do you make your home frilly for the Spring festivities?

Do You Have an Entry Staircase?

I grew up in two different Colonial homes, which each had a staircase leading up from the foyer. It didn't occur to me until I had grown up a bit that not all homes have this feature greeting guests as they enter. For a while, I just thought that's how all homes were built! I love how welcoming the architectural element is, and it allows for fun decorating with statement-making chandeliers! The next time I'm househunting, it'll definitely be on my wish list, but I know that one staircase does not a great house make; of course, I'll have other priorities. Do you have a staircase in your foyer?

Do You Ever Use Soft Pink Bulbs?

I have a variety of lamps in my bedroom, as well as overhead lighting, which I use for all different purposes. I pretty much only use my globe floor lamp when I'm in relaxation/reading/near-sleep mode, though. It casts a nice glow in the room and has a dimmer so I can change the intensity of the light. I wanted to make it even more ambient, so I picked up a soft pink bulb to try. It's really subtle, and the hue gives it a warmer, sleepier feel that I love! I wouldn't say it's ideal for all lamps and purposes, but for this one it's just right.

Hello doily! Pretty and protective doilies are making a comeback with designers, but the dutiful days of the doily have passed. There was a time when disposable paper mats lined every platter and tray, while their cloth counterparts topped nearly each piece of furniture - now they're a quick way to add vintage flair to your décor. Grannies everywhere are still rocking the crocheted discs, but many folks find the napkins to be too old-fashioned for their modern pads. Do you ever use doilies?
