My husband and I got really fed up of looking for an apartment, so today we went for a walk around Bergen (Norway) to discover our new hometown. I had been to the port a few times already but always at night, so I always missed the fish market. I had read that the fish market was great, but never thought it would be that great.

My husband and I visited Bergen's annual gingerbread city yesterday. Every year during Christmas time, children, adults, and local businesses donate homemade gingerbread houses to create what is supposedly the largest gingerbread city in the world. It is hosted in a huge tent in the city center of Bergen during the holidays.

SLAGEN, Norway (Reuters) - Archaeologists exhumed the body of a Viking queen on Monday, hoping to solve a riddle about whether a woman buried with her 1,200 years ago was a servant killed to be a companion into the afterlife.
As a less gruesome alternative, the two women in the grass-covered Oseberg mound in south Norway might be a royal mother and daughter who died of the same disease and were buried together in 834.
"We will do DNA tests to try to find out.

Since moving to Norway, I've been experimenting with open face sandwiches (called smørbrød in Norwegian - which means butter bread). They really are a staple over here. People eat them for breakfast, lunch and at night before going to bed.

PARIS (AFP) – Norway takes the number one spot in the annual United Nations human development index released Monday but China has made the biggest strides in improving the well-being of its citizens.
The index compiled by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) ranks 182 countries based on such criteria as life expectancy, literacy, school enrolment and gross domestic product (GDP) per capita.
Norway, Australia and Iceland took the first three spots while Niger ranks at the very bottom, just below Afghanistan.

Fort Hood Massacre: A Day of Courage and Cowardice
A self-described "devout Muslim" who praised suicide bombers opens fire on brave American soldiers — and most people in the mainstream media insist there is no sign of terror.
November 6, 2009 - by Bruce Bawer
The brave soldiers who were massacred at Fort Hood had trained to fight the jihadist enemy abroad. But they seem to have ended up being murdered by the same enemy on American soil, in a place where they thought they were safe — murdered, apparently, because a series of military and medical officials recognized what was going on with this major and chose to do nothing about it.

This is a product that McDonald's sells here in Norway. From what I've heard, the show Grey's Anatomy is quite popular here too so I guess they just decided to use the free publicity and go ahead by using the name made famous by the TV show.
The McDreamy isn't that dreamy though.
