K- I was TOTALLY hoping that they would name their son Calvin. Get it... Calvin Hobbes? Any one? Soooo anyway- I decided to do a work look for Miranda. I too am SOOO glad they decided to stop making her look like a man and let her relax a bit with her clothing. Miranda always seemed slightly monochrome to me, with pops of color, usually in her bag and chunky jewelry... Plus she can afford all the 'spensive designers.

Okay, ladies, as we are settling down for the grunt work of the middle of the week I thought we could do Miranda Hobbs, played by Cynthia Nixon! She often seemed the most hardworking character of the bunch on Sex and the City with her self assurance and earned partnership in her law firm. But she was not so sure on love and certainly did not take as many frills with fashion as Carrie did. Here is a synopsis of her style:

"For pragmatic Miranda, fashion is more about getting the job done than following the latest trends. By day, her lawyerly look tends towards smart tailored suits. This year we've seen her experiment more with color, especially rich wines and purples that accent her fiery red crop. Though she tends toward casual sportswear on the weekend, she keeps up with the girls just fine in sexy slip dresses and funky accessories." Source: HBO.com

Da Bronx, baby!
Aaah, Ms. Miranda. Smart, talented, beautiful, ambitious, and neurotic. Just like me. Too bad she finally sold out and moved to the Bronx. Or was it Brooklyn? All I know is it was out of my zipcode and all of a sudden she wasn't just like me anymore. I had to start relating to someone else. That's when I turned to gummi bears.

Let's see what we're dressing Miranda up in today:

#1 We're starting off in our business look and this would definitely get things done. Just look at that blouse ready to soften Miranda up during her hard day at work. Plus the bright white bag and the roadster- you are just dressed for success!

#2 This is just glowing and would set her hair off beautifully and give her whole body some soft curves! Plus the shell clutch and gem color earrings- this whole look was made for a fab night of cocktails and struttin her stuff. Just gorgeous!

#3 Now this look is a dressy look for Miranda and it's just spot on. The purple dress is beautiful, a great cut for her, and it would set her hair off nicely but would create just a teensy bit of disharmony between the purple and the red which is PERFECT! Plus the gorgeous gemstone jewelry and the one buddha-inspired piece are just right for the little bit of hippie she seemed to have a touch of. Our WINNING LOOK! Fantagabulous!

#4 Here's a great look recreated just about perfectly! This flowy top is so colorful and fun paired with the full skirt and the nude pumps. And the red bag with the gold dangly earrings has Miranda all set to go down the street to the bookstore looking for those historical biographies she loved to read! SNORE! Okay, I read them too...

#5 Look at this Missoni look, we don't use these too often. This dress would look fab with her luscious locks and is so minty cool. Then it gets punched out with those fab heels and bag and the wire mesh and lucite jewels set off the dress and leather accessories perfectly. Maybe she can split a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone with Charlotte in this getup!

Sex & The City Outfits

As much as I enjoyed creating an outfit from the Movie I really wanted to share pictures of the outfits in the soon to be seen Sex & The City Movie.

Heres what I found:
1)For those of you who want Sex and the City: The Movie to be fresh and new, look away (until May 30th, 2008, when the film is released). For those who cannot resist a look at what the fabulous foursome will be wearing around Manhattan, carry on

2)In this scene, we see another busy and juxtaposing look for Ms. Bradshaw: a beautiful origami-folded coat wrapped up with a studded belt, Chevron-patterned tights and a dainty bag.

3)Change is in the future! Kim Cattrall, as Samantha, shot scenes in Los Angeles with her pooch! The two wore coordinating Nancy Gonzalez accessories: Samantha with her handbag, and the pup with a matching leash and collar, made especially by the designer for the movie

4)In a Dolce & Gabbana cocktail dress, Carrie fits right in with the fluffy faux snow on the set.

5)So now we've heard that the wedding (Carrie's) and pregnancy (Charlotte's) scenes are both dream sequences. Is this hair color for real? We'll wait and see.

6)A statement coat, a thick magazine, a Prada clutch and a saucy hat. What more does Carrie Bradshaw need for fall in the Big Apple?

7)Costume designer Patricia Field rises to the challenge of creating unique outfits for the cast. Here she creates one of Carrie's signature high fashion-meets-funky looks with a flouncy floral dress and ostrich feather bag from Salvatore Ferragamo.

8)Who can forget when Carrie realized she had spent more than $40,000 on shoes? Who can blame her when accessories add so much to an outfit. Case in point: Carrie's two-toned Manolo Blahnik heels and orange clutch add to her busy multi-tiered bubble dress. The always preppy Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) carries a Chanel bag and Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) jazzes up black and white with a bold gold belt.

9)A somewhat outrageous look for most people, but not for Carrie, who pairs a white be-flowered dress with black Dior heels.

10)It's a play on varying lengths: long sweater, tall socks, short dress and cropped gloves.

11)Executive Producer Michael Patrick King may have hinted that this is a dream (not a dream come true, unfortunately) for Charlotte, who shopped in a polka-dot Oscar de la Renta dress.

12)The Eiffel Tower bag by Timmy Woods was a fun accoutrement to the vintage dress and Dior shoes she wears to see Mr. Big.

13)Kim Cattrall, who stands 5'9" tall, gets an extra lift from liquid silver peep-toe pumps. Never shy in demeanor or dress, Samantha is eye-catching in a taxi cab-yellow jacket.

14)With a Louis Vuitton clutch and Dior heels, Carrie stands tall on her stoop.

15)Another dream sequence or a genuine Big wedding? We're not sure yet. What we do know is Carrie looked avant-garde in this wedding gown for scenes shot at St. Patrick's Cathedral in midtown Manhattan.

16)Charlotte walks up to the cathedral for the wedding scenes wearing black Zac Posen, an interesting color choice for the always-appropriate Mrs. Goldenblatt.

17)We assume Kim Cattrall will change her slip-on sneakers into something more Samantha-appropriate to match her vibrant Zac Posen dress when she gets to the set.

18)This choice of a vibrant blue looks ravishing with Cynthia Nixon's fiery red hair.

19)On a cosmo hunt or will they sip a new beverage in this installment? In their going-out dresses and heels, the ladies maneuver the uneven sidewalks of New York with skill.

Cynthia Nixon Teaches Her Kids to Give Back

As high-power attorney Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City, Cynthia Nixon's character wasn’t exactly working pro-bono. In real life though, the actress is serious about giving back to the community – and she's got her kids helping out as well.

Samantha, 11, and Charles, 4, are "not too young to learn about giving back," Nixon told PEOPLE this week at the launch of the Curél Lends a Helping Hand Campaign, which auctioned off celebrity hand prints to raise money for the American Red Cross.

"My children are being raised Jewish, so last year we all had a meeting with a rabbi, who said it's good to let your children know what their parents values are," said Nixon, 41.

Her focus? "I'm a very big public school advocate. I try to bring public awareness to increase funding," said the actress, whose partner Christine Marinoni works for the Alliance for Quality Education. "My kids go to public school. I grew up here [in New York], went to public school, got a great education. It wasn't a tough decision."

While her daughter is "a very good writer," she says, her son is "very into building and dinosaurs, that kind of thing" – and visiting mom on the set of Sex and the City: The Movie.

"If we're shooting late on a Friday night, they'll come by the set," says Nixon, who is planning an on-set playdate for Charles and his pal, Sarah Jessica Parker's son James Wilkie. "They seem to be on set different days," Nixon says. "But we talk to Charlie about James and James about Charlie, and one day we'll figure it out so they can be there at the same time."
