PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – Drumbeats called the faithful to a Sunday Mass praising God amid a scene resembling the Apocalypse — a collapsed cathedral in a city cloaked with the smell of death, where aid is slow to reach survivors and rescue crews battle to pry an ever-smaller number of the living from the ruins.
Sunlight streamed through what little was left of blown-out stained windows as the Rev. Eric Toussaint preached to a small crowd of survivors.

I just started using this Murad a month or so ago, but I really like it. I have super sensitive skin and rosacea.
Super soothing
I have tried a million scrubs, but always come back to my favorite:
7 Day scrub, rinse off formula
Everyone knows how much I love THIS stuff.

As many of you know, I am not a fan of artificial colorings in our food. Earlier this year I wrote a four-part series on these petroleum-based dyes and their effects on our health.
But these colorants are not just in processed food.

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs coveredwith bright colored lead-base paints..We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads. And when we had our sleds, we tied them to the bumper of a car and had a really neat ride as long as you made sure you didn't slide under the car when it stoppedAs infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter or lard and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight.. WHY?

Conspicuous consumption penetrated United States post-WWII as an outcome of modernity. Mass consumption of houses, automobiles and manufactured goods infused Middle America. Captivation with materialism exhibited itself in the purchases of houses.

This is a really long article (I tried to hit the high points), but it really shows how prescription drugs are becoming more and more of a problem for teens and young adults. Kids don't need to find a way to buy drugs anymore... they can just go to their parents and grandparent's medicine cabinets to get their fix.

Republican Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) also found himself being censored yesterday by Democrats who refused to allow mailings that included a chart (pdf) he asked his Republican staff at the Joint Economic Committee to create. Democrats have to approve these mailings under the House “franked” mail system -- the system by which communications are sent between Congress and constituents that requires the member signature in place of a stamp.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Democratic leaders are working hard to suppress dissent within their party over boosting agency spending by 8 percent as the government runs whopping deficits and constituents are forced to scrimp on their own budgets.
Coming to the rescue are a few Republicans standing ready to help pass the pending $410 billion catchall spending bill - and allow lawmakers in both parties to get the thousands of pet projects they crave and above-inflation budget increases for favorite programs like education.
A close vote is expected late this week to advance the sweeping spending bill, which wraps together the budgets for 12 Cabinet departments and other agencies, to President Barack Obama.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Democrats unveiled a $410 billion spending bill on Monday to keep the government running through the end of the fiscal year, setting up the second political struggle over federal funds in less than a month with Republicans.
The measure includes thousands of earmarks, the pet projects favored by lawmakers but often criticized by the public in opinion polls.

So this weekend I found out about Snoop, a new book about what your stuff says about you. I contacted the author, Sam Gosling, and he's willing to tell a few of us what our stuff says about us. Fun, no?
