Pulling it all together
We recently moved into our new house -- a 1964 ranch -- and my collection of mid-century furniture and accessories finally seems at home! The wall unit is from craigslist, the chair and pillow from a local thrift store, the side table from a used furniture store, the stained glass wall hanging was made by my mom, the pottery is (mostly) from local thrift stores, and the artwork is one of my botanical scanographs.
A tiny, shy flower
So I finally got my tax refund this weekend and I bought the one accessory I've really been needing for my Nikon D40: a flash. I was really excited when I brought my new Nikon SB-600 home, and naturally I wanted to play with it. So with my camera in one hand and a white foam board at arm's length in the other, I took this photo.

One of the books that I recently got out of the library, Sew Stylish, had this cute little idea in it. While the book didn't have too many fabulous ideas that I just had to try, I thought this one was an easy and simple way to add a touch of fun and coziness to a room that's calling out for a little help.
In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, it might be a perfect present for someone else as well - my mother-in-law, in fact.

I'm in the wedding spirit today, kids! Not only did I find out that Isaac Mizrahi is doing BRIDAL for Target , but I came across some excellent ideas for wedding gifts. And, seeing as how it's been Wedding Central around here lately, I thought I'd throw some ideas out there since wedding season is quickly approaching....
