The Gates Central Park, NYC, NY
Christo and Jeanne-Claude
Last night HBO premiered the documentary The Gates, the large scale art project designed by artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude. I first became aware of this couple when they surrounded 11 islands in Miami's Biscayne Bay with 603,850 square meters of pink polypropylene in 1983. This show is not about the creative process of designing The Gates, but about the bureaucracy and the hoops they had to jump through before the project came to fruition.

Sarah Michelle Gellar will make her return to the small screen with The Wonderful Maladys, due to premiere on HBO next year, Variety reports.
The former star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will play a character with "a kind of zealous immaturity - like a drug addict with a to-do list," screenwriter Charles Randolph said.
The Wonderful Maladys, about three dysfunctional adults who were orphaned at a young age, is Gellar's first TV commitment since Buffy, which ended its seven-year run in 2003.

HBO is reportedly on the brink of snatching up the rights to a “behind-the-scenes documentary” about Barack Obama, says the New York Post.

HBO reportedly wants to air the film “within the first 100 days” of Obama’s presidency, if he wins, that is.

Edward Norton is just one of the many Americans pleased with the outcome of the election. Especially because he produced a documentary on Barack Obama, which was only to air if he got elected.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are already partners on a handful of huge projects – namely Maddox, Shiloh, Zahara and Pax – but now the pair are going into business together.
Pitt, 43, and Jolie, 32, are teaming up for their first producing project, a new series for HBO, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
And it's a subject close to their hearts: The untitled drama will go behind the scenes of an international aid organization and follow workers who put their lives in danger to help others.
