85 elderly quake survivors await death in Haiti

An old man is fed a few nuts from his nephew while lying outside his quake damaged nursing home in Port-au-Prince, Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010. More than 100 old men and women were living outside the home, that was damaged during Tuesday's earthquake, with no food or care other than an occasional bath from two medical orderlies who remained to help.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – The old lady crawls in the dirt, wailing for her pills. The elderly man lies motionless as rats pick at his overflowing diaper. There is no food, water or medicine for the 85 surviving residents of the Port-au-Prince Municipal Nursing Home, just a mile (1 1/2 kilometers) from the airport where a massive international aid effort is taking shape.

"Help us, help us," 69-year-old Mari-Ange Levee begged Sunday, lying on the ground with a broken leg and ribs. A cluster of flies swarmed the open fracture in her skull.

One man has already died, and administrator Jean Emmanuel said more would follow soon unless water and food arrive immediately.

"I appeal to anybody to bring us anything, or others won't live until tonight," he said, motioning toward five men and women who were having trouble breathing, a sign that the end was near.

The dead man was Joseph Julien, a 70-year-old diabetic who was pulled from the partially collapsed building and passed away Thursday for lack of food. His rotting body lies on a mattress, nearly indistinguishable from the living around him.

With six residents killed in the quake, the institution now has 25 men and 60 women camped outside their former home. Some have a mattress in the dirt to lie on. Others don't.

Madeleine Dautriche, 75, said some of the residents had pooled their money to buy three packets of pasta, which the dozens of pensioners shared on Thursday, their last meal. Since there was no drinking water, some didn't touch the noodles because they were cooked in gutter water.

Dautriche noted that many residents wore diapers that hadn't been changed since the quake.

"The problem is, rats are coming to it," she said.
Consumer Reports: How to Make Pricey Appliances Last

The cost of maintaining a home and appliances is often a major deterrent for those debating whether to rent or purchase a home. The unexpected expense of fixing leaky gutters and broken dishwashers can be budget breaking if it comes at the wrong time of month. Not to mention it's a huge pain. Consumer Reports has put together a great guide for how to extend the useful life of appliances and pricey goodies. Obviously, the key is maintenance and keeping a watchful eye on appliances so they don't break down unexpectedly and leave you in a pricey pinch. Consumer Reports suggests:

Cell phones
Don't stow in your car's glove compartment during the summer. Otherwise, batteries may overheat, possibly ruining the phone. If you've been known to drop your cell phone, treat it to a protective case.

Clothes dryers
Clean the lint filter after each use and the entire air duct yearly. If your dryer breaks, think about replacing it if repairs will cost more than half the price of a comparable new model. But don't expect much gain in performance or efficiency, since dryer technology hasn't changed much.

Clothes washers
Don't overload. If your washer breaks, think about replacing it if repairs will cost more than half the price of a comparable model. If you're replacing, consider a high-efficiency washer, which should save money over time. Also consider a front-loader, which is less punishing to clothes than a top-loader.

Dishwashers
Check the filter regularly and remove any debris.

To see additional suggestions and reminders, read more.

Hardwood floors
Dust mop or vacuum weekly. Wipe up wet spills pronto.

Kitchen knives
Keep them out of the dishwasher and store them in a wooden knife block or individual plastic shields.

Laptop computers
Set them on a hard, flat surface rather than a soft one such as a bed or carpet, which can block airflow and cause them to overheat.

LCD TVs
Clean the screen gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth, ideally a microfiber one. Avoid commercial cleaners and paper towels, which can scratch the screen.

Mattresses
Rotate periodically. Try not to sit on the edge. Buy a washable, protective cover. And pull back the sheets and blankets to let the bed air out for 20 minutes or so each morning.

Visit the Consumer Reports website for more tips on making your pricey goods last.

Twitter switch for Guardian, after 188 years of ink

Twitter switch for Guardian, after 188 years of ink

• Newspaper to be available only on messaging service
• Experts say any story can be told in 140 characters

Rio Palof
The Guardian, Wednesday 1 April 2009

Consolidating its position at the cutting edge of new media technology, the Guardian today announces that it will become the first newspaper in the world to be published exclusively via Twitter, the sensationally popular social networking service that has transformed online communication.

The move, described as "epochal" by media commentators, will see all Guardian content tailored to fit the format of Twitter's brief text messages, known as "tweets", which are limited to 140 characters each. Boosted by the involvement of celebrity "twitterers", such as Madonna, Britney Spears and Stephen Fry, Twitter's profile has surged in recent months, attracting more than 5m users who send, read and reply to tweets via the web or their mobile phones.

As a Twitter-only publication, the Guardian will be able to harness the unprecedented newsgathering power of the service, demonstrated recently when a passenger on a plane that crashed outside Denver was able to send real-time updates on the story as it developed, as did those witnessing an emergency landing on New York's Hudson River. It has also radically democratised news publishing, enabling anyone with an internet connection to tell the world when they are feeling sad, or thinking about having a cup of tea.

"[Celebrated Guardian editor] CP Scott would have warmly endorsed this - his well-known observation 'Comment is free but facts are sacred' is only 36 characters long," a spokesman said in a tweet that was itself only 135 characters long.

A mammoth project is also under way to rewrite the whole of the newspaper's archive, stretching back to 1821, in the form of tweets. Major stories already completed include "1832 Reform Act gives voting rights to one in five adult males yay!!!"; "OMG Hitler invades Poland, allies declare war see tinyurl.com/b5x6e for more"; and "JFK assassin8d @ Dallas, def. heard second gunshot from grassy knoll WTF?"

Sceptics have expressed concerns that 140 characters may be insufficient to capture the full breadth of meaningful human activity, but social media experts say the spread of Twitter encourages brevity, and that it ought to be possible to convey the gist of any message in a tweet.

For example, Martin Luther King's legendary 1963 speech on the steps of the Lincoln memorial appears in the Guardian's Twitterised archive as "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by", eliminating the waffle and bluster of the original.

At a time of unprecedented challenge for all print media, many publications have rushed to embrace social networking technologies. Most now offer Twitter feeds of major breaking news headlines, while the Daily Mail recently pioneered an iPhone application providing users with a one-click facility for reporting suspicious behaviour by migrants or gays. "In the new media environment, readers want short and punchy coverage, while the interactive possibilities of Twitter promise to transform th," the online media guru Jeff Jarvis said in a tweet yesterday, before reaching his 140-character limit, which includes spaces. According to subsequent reports, he is thinking about going to the theatre tonight, but it is raining .

A unique collaboration between The Guardian and Twitter will also see the launch of Gutter, an experimental service designed to filter noteworthy liberal opinion from the cacophony of Twitter updates. Gutter members will be able to use the service to comment on liberal blogs around the web via a new tool, specially developed with the blogging platform WordPress, entitled GutterPress.

Currently, 17.8% of all Twitter traffic in the United Kingdom consists of status updates from Stephen Fry, whose reliably jolly tone, whether trapped in a lift or eating a scrumptious tart, has won him thousands of fans. A further 11% is made up of his 363,000 followers replying "@stephenfry LOL!", "@stephenfry EXACTLY the same thing happened to me", and "@stephenfry Meanwhile, I am making myself an omelette! Delicious!"

According to unconfirmed rumours, Jim Buckmaster, the chief executive of Craigslist, will next month announce plans for a new system of telepathy-based social networking that is expected to render Twitter obsolete within weeks.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/apr/01/guardian-twitter-media-techn...

Oh, Gavin! Mayor Newsom proposes new tax on cigarettes to pay for butt clean up

So, I was visiting friends in San Francisco recently, and I was struck by how they all refer to Mayor Gavin Newsom as just "Gavin." Like he's their friend, their pal. And how they all seemed to think it was kind of adorable that he is going to run for Governor (though the consensus is he has no chance of winning). Like when you watch your 5 year old in the talent show--you know he's not very good, but it's so darling to watch him try.

Since then I've had an eye open for Gavin stories, and I just saw that he is proposing a new cigarette tax. It will increase the cost of a pack by 33 cents and the money will go towards the estimated cost of $10.7 million to the city to clean up butts from streets, gutters, etc.

And of course, “In general, fees help reduce the consumption and use of tobacco,” he said in an interview. “And we think that will have a very beneficial public health component.”

When running for office, it can't hurt to take a swing at tobacco. But what about just ticketing and fining those who litter?

Civility and Tolerance in the Age of Obama

Civility and Tolerance in the Age of Obama

By Michelle Malkin

They told us if Barack Obama were elected, the nation would come together. Souls would be fixed. Spirits would be healed. Public discourse would be elevated. Welcome to civility and tolerance in the Age of Obama:

• Celebrity leech/trash blogger Perez Hilton took to the Internet and TV airwaves to humiliate a beauty pageant contestant who gave what he considered an "offensive" answer about gay marriage. Hilton, inexplicably serving as a judge for the Miss USA contest, asked Miss California, Carrie Prejean, whether she supported the legalization of gay marriage. Prejean respectfully answered: "I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised." President Obama, by the way, defines marriage the same way Prejean does.

No matter. Hilton immediately lambasted Prejean as a "dumb b*tch" in a viral YouTube video he taped after the pageant Sunday night. He apologized the next morning for the attack, then retracted his apology, then escalated his divisive rhetoric. On Tuesday afternoon, Hilton told an MSNBC female anchor that he was thinking of an even more vulgar epithet - the "c-word" - as he listened to Prejean's answer. The female anchor said nothing. Basking in his new role as thought and speech enforcer, Hilton told CNN's Larry King that beauty pageant contestants must bow to the tolerance mob: "Yes. I do expect Miss USA to be politically correct."

And apparently, the Miss USA organizers agree. Instead of apologizing for Hilton's vile behavior, the pageant director of the Miss California contest, Keith Lewis, sent a note to Hilton throwing Prejean under the bus: "I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss CA USA 2009 believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman. Religious beliefs have no place in politics in the Miss CA family."

But gutter profanity and misogyny do?

• At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill last week, former GOP Congressman Tom Tancredo came to speak against legislative proposals to provide illegal alien students in-state tuition discounts not available to law-abiding Americans and legal immigrant students. Protesters at the institution of higher learning responded by blocking Tancredo with massive banners and screaming, "No dialogue with hate." Adults in the room stood by while students smashed a window a few feet from where Tancredo stood. Physically threatened, Tancredo was forced to leave without delivering his remarks.

According to campus reports, for a week leftists had prepared to mount a speech-squelching demonstration. The same thuggish tactics have been used at Columbia University, Georgetown University and Michigan State University to shut down speakers who support strict immigration enforcement. The UNC administration apologized for the students' tantrum, but took no steps to examine its own culpability for fostering a climate of intellectual vandalism and intolerance.

• The nightly airwaves turned into a soft-porn cesspool last week as liberal journalists derided and slimed hundreds of thousands of Tea Party protesters across the country who oppose reckless taxing and spending by both major political parties. Award-winning CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, mimicking his bottom-of-the-barrel competitors at MSNBC, smugly indulged in sexual puns about "teabagging." MSNBC devoted the entire week to sophomoric sexual slang and innuendo with references to "nuts," Dick Armey and "full-throated" protesters.

And White House adviser David Axelrod calls the Tea Party folks "unhealthy"?

Speaking of unhealthy, angry white liberal actress Janeane Garofalo venomously played the race card: "It's about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up and is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks." The theme was echoed by Jeffrey Kimball, a professor emeritus of history at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, who castigated the "extreme right" for organizing against Obama because "he's black and he's liberal."

Tell that to the thousands of activists in South Carolina who practically booed and heckled white Republican Rep. Gresham Barrett off the stage at a Tea Party in Greenville last Friday night for supporting the trillion-dollar TARP and embracing the pork-laden stimulus law after voting against it. "Go home!" they shouted. The only color that mattered to protesters: the red ink of government debts.

But in the Age of Obama, there's no room for such nuance and inconvenient truths. A decent young woman is a "dumb b*tch" for holding the same view of marriage as the Obamessiah. A conservative campus speaker is bullied as a hatemonger by wild-eyed hatemongers. A grassroots movement is debased as a bunch of racist vulgarians by a media mob of racists and vulgarians. Civility and tolerance have taken a left-hand turn down a one-way street. So much for changing course.

Faith Evans, Biggie’s widow, writes about beating up Lil Kim

The widow of slain hip hop star Biggie Smalls, Faith Evans, has released a tell-all memoir about her life with the rapper called Keep the Faith. Gee, that’s original. Faith writes about her husband’s many infidelities, and says that her method of keeping him in line was to bust in on him while having sex with another woman and beating the crap out of her. Hmmm. Not really solving the problem there. Anyway, one of the women Faith caught Biggie with was fellow rapper Lil Kim.

As soon as I saw a small lump next to Big’s large frame, I flew into a rage, ran over to the side of the bed, and pulled back the covers. I grabbed some chick out of the bed and started beating her ass. At some point, the chick’s wig came off in my hand; It was a short, cropped wig. I stopped throwing punches for a minute to get a good look at the chick I was beating up. It was Lil Kim. She was completely butt-naked, yelling as I pushed her around the room.
“So you not f*cking her, right?” I screamed at Big. “Yeah, you not messing with her anymore, right?”

When they heard all the commotion, Cease, D-Roc, and Gutter came running into the room. ‘Oh sh*t!” they yelled in unison. “It’s Faye! How the hell she get in here?”

Big sat up in bed and pointed at Kim, who was standing in a corner of the room, trying to cover her naked body with her hands while I was still yelling at Big. “Yo, get her outta here,’ Big said. They led Kim out of the room and she screamed and cursed the whole way.

It was absolutely crazy in that house. Kim was naked and being led somewhere to get dressed. I was still screaming on Big. Damion, Cease, and Gutter were laughing in amazement that I would be so bold. And Big looked like he was just too through with all of us. He sat up in bed shaking his head. Kim left the house and I stayed, talking to Big about why he couldn’t be honest with me about her.

‘I thought it was all about Tiffany?” I asked. “You still messing with Kim, too?” Big had nothing to say. I have to say I actually felt some pity for Kim. Big had a wife, and she settled for messing with him. Then he started dating Tiffany and Big had a wife and a mistress. And Kim still settled for being other other woman. It seemed pretty sad to settle for that.

When I left a few hours later to get the kids, I noticed that Kim had taken my key to my Land Cruiser and scratched up my entire car, from the hood to the back bumper. Even though we ended up having sex that day, at that point I decided I was 100 percent through. I was not going to be a ride or die chick, always going to lengths to show Big how I felt. I was the mother of his child and his wife. But I was going to have to let go.

[From Rhymes With Snitch]

That must have been some kind of cat fight- Lil Kim and Faith Evans. But then you realize that these two women were fighting over Biggie Smalls. Not exactly a looker, that guy. And if you believe Evan’s memoir, not much of a husband, either. It’s just another example of how women are so quick to let their cheating husbands off the hook while placing full blame on the other woman. It’s as though women can’t believe that their men are capable of having an affair unless they are led astray against their will. Anyway, Lil Kim probably had worse beatings on her in jail, so maybe this one was just training.

I have to get this book. It’s probably a bunch of badly-written lies, but I don’t care, it’s fascinating!

LOL

Democrat's call for political civility is 8 years late

Democrat's call for political civility is 8 years late

Peter J. Parisi THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Wednesday, February 4, 2009

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

The day before Barack Obama's inauguration as president, "Purple Nation" columnist Lanny Davis pleaded on this page for a return to civility in our nation's politics.

Mr. Davis, a proudly self-professed liberal Democrat, announced his co-founding of what he is calling the Civility Project in a bid "to change the polarizing, attack-oriented political culture that has become all too common in recent years and, instead, to bring civility back as the staple of American politics and life."

Sorry, Lanny, as worthy as your aims may be, that horse fled the barn long ago. And it was your side that battered down the barn door.

Beginning shortly after President Bush assumed office in January 2001 and running through his departure from the White House eight years later, Democrats directed nonstop invective at Mr. Bush, and his call for a "new tone" in Washington went unheeded on the left. From "selected, not elected" to then-Rep. Richard A. Gephardt of Missouri calling Mr. Bush "a miserable failure" in September 2003 to Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid calling him a "loser" during a civics discussion with a group of teenagers at a high school in May 2005 to Howard Dean's many rants to the MoveOn crowd likening him to Adolf Hitler, the political incivility of "recent years" Mr. Davis decries has originated almost entirely on his side of the political aisle.

For the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee now to feign outrage (for fundraising purposes) at radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh's saying "I hope he fails," referring to President Obama's socialist economic agenda, takes some serious chutzpah - even for the DCCC.

And, no, the Republican criticism of President Clinton was nowhere near as savage, nor as unceasing as what Mr. Bush endured.

Right up until the very hour Mr. Bush left office, the hatred never let up: When he shared the inaugural platform with Mr. Obama on Jan. 20, a chorus of "Na, na, na, na/na, na, na, na/hey, hey, hey, goodbye" greeted him from the crowd. The day before, the Code Pink crazies threw shoes at the White House fence, mimicking the actions of the Iraqi so-called "journalist."

A gentleman to the end of his presidency, one who chose not to cheapen the office by getting down in the gutter with his critics, Mr. Bush never fired back in kind at them, but his failure to do so obviously took its toll on his job-approval ratings. Silence, after all, equals assent.

Even now, with Mr. Bush back in Texas, Rep. John Conyers Jr., the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee - egged on by far-left interest groups - is still determined to hold hearings on supposed "crimes" of the Bush administration. (Think Stalinist "show trials" with the "verdicts" predetermined.) These hearings, moreover, appear to have the tacit approval of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi - the same Nancy Pelosi who, upon assuming the gavel in January 2007 after the Democrats retook control of Congress, assured her colleagues and the public that she would bring "civility and bipartisanship" back to Congress. Had she really meant it, she should have sent a memo to her caucus.

Though I never saw Mr. Davis engage in the sort of boorish behavior he rightly deplores during any of his TV talking-heads show appearances, neither have I heard him denounce it with anything more than a "tut-tut" or "tsk, tsk" - until now, that is.

Concluding his column on the need for the restoration of political civility, he implored: "As we now inaugurate a new president, may we also inaugurate a new era of civility across this land."

While I suppose the name-calling has to stop somewhere, if indeed it is ever to stop, pardon me if I find his timing - coincident with the arrival of a liberal Democrat in the White House, someone of a like mind - more than a bit suspicious. Where was the Civility Project two, four or even six years ago?

Put another way, what Mr. Davis is suggesting is going to be as difficult as trying to squeeze toothpaste back into the tube. Republicans' memories are rightly too raw to simply let bygones be bygones.

Having said that, though, I'm not suggesting that the Republicans in Congress and the GOP base attack Mr. Obama in similar ad hominem fashion at every turn, for slights real or imagined, and over every policy difference - of which there will be many, given the president's intention to steer the ship of state to the left as far and as fast as possible.

But neither should they shy away from criticizing the president when it's warranted, least of all for fear of being branded "racist," no matter how valid the criticism of his policies. And who better to call them on baseless accusations of "racism" than the newly elected chairman of the Republican National Committee, Michael S. Steele, the party's first black chairman?

It's also long past time that Republicans change the terms of the political debate, by rejecting liberals' euphemisms, such as "investments" (aka taxing and spending), and by returning fire when they're called "extremists." In most cases, especially on the social issues, it's the Democrats who are way out of the mainstream. In other words, Republicans have to stop bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Republican lawmakers also need to remind Mr. Obama that he has no mandate for his far-left agenda, having won with just 52.7 percent of the vote, despite having raised and spent $750 million in his campaign (more than $1 billion, if you add in organized labor's and liberal 527s' efforts on his behalf), in the process outspending his hapless opponent 3 to 1.

Republicans can do this, however, without resorting to the "politics of personal destruction" of the kind Mr. Davis (selectively) decries. In a follow-up column Monday, he chastised House Republicans for voting unanimously against the president's $819 billion pork-laden "economic-stimulus" bill. It's as though bipartisanship is defined as Republicans caving to Democrats' demands, even when they're antithetical to their own views. Republican senators should follow the lead of their House counterparts. Voting for the bill would only provide Mr. Obama, Mrs. Pelosi and Mr. Reid with the political cover they will need when the stimulus package - rightly dubbed "the porkulus bill" by Mr. Limbaugh - fails to help the economy.

Unless they want to remain in the political wilderness for another 40 years, as they were prior to 1994, congressional Republicans need to reject "me-too"-ism and pale pastels that blur the differences between the parties in favor of bold colors, and be a choice, not an echo, for voters in 2010 and beyond

OBiden launching missiles

Obiden suddenly launching missiles at the mavericks

By Dave Weinbaum

I went to Wal-Mart today and was sure I saw Joe Biden's picture on a milk carton.

Has anyone seen this man?

Seems the press doesn't know where he is. I heard he's so inconspicuous that his plane took off without him and no one noticed…or cared. The media is on to bigger and better stories like that moose lady McCain picked up while she was staving off the Russian hordes from invading Alaska.

It reminds me of when grandpa was found ten miles from home. His coat got caught in a taxi door.

If they put Hillary in charge of the hunt, here's what to expect. Her report will conclude, "Biden is gone and he ain't coming back…but I'm not doing anything special for the next four years."

Of course that's only one of many issues that are killing the dazzling campaign of Barack Hussein Obama.

Never throw a dart that's been seen hanging out with a boomerang

Barack's attacks have hurt his cause much more than the Mavericks.

From Obama's new book, "How to Drive Major Voting Blocks Away Without Really Trying:"

-Barack's challenge to Governor Palin's qualifications (small town mayor). Bye, bye more women, everyone that doesn't live in a large city and those that look closely at Obama's slim resume.

-How stupid was his lipstick on a pig comment? Bye, bye millions of more women.

-Not explaining his bloody war against botched abortion babies getting treatment. Bye, bye special needs parents and anyone with a smidgeon of decency.

-Making John McCain's honor an issue. Bye, bye veterans and armed forces.

Portraying McCain as computer illiterate without noting his broken bones while fighting a war that provided Barry with the opportunity of running for president. Bye, bye more veterans, armed forces and that little ole' 12.5% senior citizen segment. 71% of our seasoned citizens will vote! (the highest % of any group.).

Biden with more gaffs than hair plugs; during a rally Joe yelled for a wheelchair bound man to stand up and be recognized, then today lectured all that it's our patriotic duty to pay more taxes, when he's flipped a penny or two over to charity over his life. Say goodbye the handicapped, Hillary supporters, charitable Americans, and everyone that doesn't want to pay more taxes. (My hand is up, how about yours?)

Barack is like a tiered cake. There's a lot of icing separating the layers.

Put on top of that issues not yet thoroughly vetted about Obama.

-His friendship to terrorists William Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn.

-Dealings with Tony Rezko, and the Iranian/Iraqi sources of the money he gave Obama.

-Barack's rating as the second highest beneficiary of contributions from Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae followed only by Senator Chris Dodd, chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and recipient of a lower than market mortgage rate.

-Having Jim Johnson, formally CEO of Fannie Mae and recipient of huge below market mortgages, as the head of his VP search committee.

-Franklin Raines another former Fannie Mae CEO and Obama's economic advisor received $90 million in his six years at the Fannie Mae helm.

-The continuing saga of the Reverend Wrong, Louie "Judaism is a Gutter Religion" Farrakhan, and the flagrant Father Flager.

-Obama's Hollywood's connections. Going for a BaBa Streisand fundraiser as the market crashed.

-Obama trying to persuade the Iraqi foreign minister to delay US troop withdrawals until after the election. Will we soon be hearing Obama lied GIs died chants?

And Barack wonders why his numbers are going south. People this clueless should not be elected to the top job in our country.

John McCain may not be the brightest bulb in the room but he is throwing a beacon of light to those seeking a ray of hope.

And he picked Sarah Palin to be his co-maverick.

Intimate Prince William Photos Stolen

man has been arrested after stolen photographs of Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton were offered for sale to a British newspaper.

According to a front-page story in Britain's biggest daily tabloid The Sun, someone reported that a camera had been stolen in London shortly before noon on Friday. Within an hour, two men using false names contacted the newspaper offering to sell pictures of the prince. (The Sun suggests that the camera may have belonged to Middleton's younger sister, Pippa.)

The newspaper's royal correspondent, Duncan Larcombe, met the two men, who were secretly photographed as he viewed more than 40 photos on the memory card they claimed to have found in a gutter.

The frames reportedly included numerous shots of William and Middleton on their week-long vacation in the Caribbean last month. The paper – which described some as "sexy snaps" – gave the photos and a dossier of information to London's Metropolitan Police.

Yesterday, as William prepared to remember his mother, Princess Diana, on the 11th anniversary of her death, Scotland Yard detectives mounted a dawn raid in London.

"A 25-year-old man was arrested ... on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and handling stolen goods," a police rep confirms to PEOPLE. (According to the paper, police are still searching for the second suspect.)

Clarence House, which handles the affairs of the prince, refuses to discuss the incident. "Our only comment is that it is a matter for the police," says one palace source. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20222745,00.html
