A new type of visitor came to the National Mall this year, flitting past monuments and museums in favor of trees, flowers and plants. But this wasn’t just some horticultural tour; no, this was work. Each day they were abuzz, gathering and pollinating before returning home to modest quarters with tremendous security near Lafayette Park.

The first family is hoping changes at the White House will decrease its carbon footprint enough to achieve green certification.
Talk about taking a lead in the pressing issues of the day.
I suppose that's the job of the first family, but the Obamas still deserve a hearty round of applause for their efforts to green up the White House and apply for LEED certification, according to Inhabitat.

We've worked for about 5 months on our loft remodel. We started with a big empty cement box, and we are in the process of transforming it into exactly what we want. We started with a blank canvas, and designed it all ourselves.

After reading the Casasugar post about Stella McCartney's Equestrian Chandelier, it reminded me of a documentary I had watched on Channel 4 about some pretty out of this world fibre-optic light installations. The one featured was the installation into House of Fraser- Liverpool One.

Blueprint's version on the left; my version on the right.
After seeing the Casasugar post where Angelica made her version Blueprint magazine's Light Bright diy holiday project, I was inspired to make my own! I set out to try using what I already had on hand to pull it off (instead of spending the outrageous ~$140 detailed in the mag).

After a series of failed baking adventures I realized it was time for me to transfer my love for YumSugar and food magazines to CasaSugar and design magazines. In the spirit of the holidays I picked a Light Bright project from this month's Blueprint magazine. I must admit, I'm a much better painter and craftswoman than I am a baker so the project was definately a confidence booster.
