Favorite Blogs

Hey guys! I thought I'd share some of my favorite blogs with you guys and I hope that you will do the same.

http://thepioneerwoman.com/

I LOVE this site. I read it everyday. We were talking about our love for it over on liberal and I thought I'd share it with everyone. She is a housewife on a cattle ranch in Oklahoma. She is a wonderful writer and has a wicked sense of humor. She writes about her kids, photography, renovating a lodge, cooking (with TONS of recipes), and homeschooling.

http://www.lastnightsdinner.net/

This site INSPIRES me to cook. There are very rarely real recipes on here. It's just what is says it is. It's pictures of their "last night's dinner." But let me tell you...these people know how to do it right. I bet you anything it will inspire you to cook, or at LEAST make you want to go to a nice restaurant. I also love how they try to buy completely locally and from local farms.

http://hollymaus.blogspot.com/

This is the personal blog of the author of Decor8 which is a very popular interior design blog. Haus Maus is all about HER houses in Germany and New Hampshire and also what inspires HER. It's much more personal. I like blogs that are personal and less like magazines.

Anyway...that's it! What about you guys?

best of the week September. last week. blogs, new shows

Only 3 weeks of classes left then the exam period! yay! SO much to do before we go. we'll probably end up selling or giving away stuff a lot since we can't take much with us. the shipping rates have gone up a lot since we first got here. It is starting to be spring-like here...which means a lot of rain!? what crazy thunderstorms we've had! argh.

This is a bit late since I've been madly working on 3 papers this week.

I really enjoyed finally watching Shut Up And Sing, the Dixie Chicks Documentary

I have been really loving listening to the new Weakerthans album I mentioned last week, plus I love the Jens Lekman album that came out this year (or hasn't come out yet?! no idea). You should get both of them when you can though!

A few good blogs: I've been finding a lot of great new (to me) Design/Decorating blogs and just some other good ones as I have moved all the good links from Safari to Opera and from stumbling. Here is a sampling:

Going Rural - A Couple from Vancouver moved to rural Saskatchewan to have a crafty/t-shirt business and one online too. Its cool to see the rural Canadian mainstays like all the co-ops and such. I haven't finished reading it all yet, but it looks engrossing so far.

My Marrakesh - A lifestyle/design blog from a person in Marrakesh (duh), with a focus on northern Africa generally. I love the colourful stuff he featured from when she went to Egypt on holiday. Its nice to see an english language blog from that part of the world.

An Indian Summer - described as "Collation of ideas, artifacts, and design which is aesthetic and inspiring, transforming a house into a home across the world, with special focus on India" by Bhavna who runs the blog.

decor8 - This one isn't new to me but it is one of my favorites so incase you haven't been to it yet, now is your chance to do so.

Hostess with the mostess - another not new one to me. this is a mostly kitchen stuffs blog. lots of great new finds on here.

design sponge - yet another not-new blog. design and decor related. updated often

With all the talk of new Fall shows going on right now (in America i guess) it is getting hard to resist watching stuff online. I know i will miss a lot of episodes between now and january, so why don't i wait and watch a bunch of episodes at once? i'm trying to...its so hard sometimes though. i watched a few first episodes so far. the best ones: aliens in america, pushing daises, bionic woman, and that kelsey grammar one...back to you or something?! journeyman, chuck and lipstick jungle have potential, but i don't know if i'll spend that much time watching stuff. i imagine i'll just stick to heroes, degrassi, little mosque on the prairie, private practice, grey's anatomy, pushing daisies, bionic woman, aliens in america, corner gas, torchwood, doctor who and ugly betty. whoa - that is a lot.... but i'll watch at least half of them on DVD a whole bunch of episodes at once.
