Delphine Macarty was born circa 1775 to Barthelmy Louis Macarty and Vevue Lecomte, prominent members of the New Orleans community. It is said that Delphine's mother and brother were killed in a slave uprising. Delphine Macarty's cousin, Auguste Macarty was elected mayor of New Orleans in 1815, which possibly helped elevate Delphine's eventual rise to prominence in the New Orleans community.
