There are so many great green buildings out there. How sustainable are they though? I will be showing some great green buildings in the future, but before I do, I thought i'd explain a bit about some of the criteria for getting the oft-desired LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) status on a building.

In Sacramento, California, lies the Platinum LEED qualified Environmental Protection Agency headquarters. The building is able to be both sustainable and economically competitive.

The first family is hoping changes at the White House will decrease its carbon footprint enough to achieve green certification.
Talk about taking a lead in the pressing issues of the day.
I suppose that's the job of the first family, but the Obamas still deserve a hearty round of applause for their efforts to green up the White House and apply for LEED certification, according to Inhabitat.

Justin Timberlake is putting the finishing touches on the first LEED-certified golf course in the United States. The 27-year-old singer is an avid golfer and his latest business venture, called Miramichi Lakes, takes his love of the sport to a new level.
Timberlake revealed in an interview how he saved the struggling golf course last year from development and decided to open up his own, eco-friendly version.
