Once upon a time, Joe Lieberman was interesting—not always correct, in my view, but interesting. He was interesting because he thought for himself. On most issues, most senators line up pretty automatically with their party.

Break out the Bordeaux, the whoopee cushions and the bangin' Keith Richards guitar solos, because the 2009 Sexiest Man Alive party is officially under way. Bringing the fun with him wherever he goes – whether it's onscreen in fizzy roles like Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise or at home with his family on their private Bahamian island – is just one reason why Johnny Depp, who also scored the honor in 2003, has joined an elite club of two-time SMA title holders (only Brad Pitt and George Clooney have matched the feat). At 46, the father of two still reigns as Hollywood's most irresistible iconoclast; as one-of-a-kind as his beloved 15-year-old boots and as smoldering as his favorite Cuban cigars.

If Jay Leno Wants Better Reviews He Can Start By Removing the Lapel Flag
by John Nolte
Critics love David Letterman. They love him because he’s mean and liberal and does everything they demand: further the leftist agenda through the brutal use of humiliation to target any public figure (or their child) who might derail Leftist causes.
And contrary to conventional wisdom, Letterman’s not edgy.

Wyclef has dedicated one of his songs to tennis champ Venus Williams. The two were paired on an episode of Iconoclasts (which if you haven't seen, Tivo it!) and he felt so inspired by her that he had to write about her. The song is called I'm Ready, and is an ode to how amazing she is in her field.

Want Inflation Now? [Andrew Stuttaford]
For all the good that stimulus packages may or may not do, one of the key features of our current predicament is that the overall level of borrowing, particularly of consumers (and, ahem, governments) remains too high. Crispin Odey, one of the more successful (and more prescient) U.K.

Row over BBC drama which shows Jesus crucified in a foetal position
By PAUL REVOIR - More by this author » Last updated at 11:58am on 17th March 2008
The BBC is facing accusations of rewriting the Easter story by claiming Christ was nailed to the cross in a foetal position.
The corporation is accused of "misleading" the public by ditching the traditional image of Jesus with arms outstretched, legs straight and hands nailed.

Raise children with a wild streak
Many `ideal' students lack inventive, restless and self-reliant spirit
MARK PRUETT
Special to the Observer
A new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics stresses the importance of childhood playtime. It reinforces my own belief that many young adults have been cheated by years of excessive schoolwork and teamwork, too many extracurricular activities, and a straitjacketed "just say no to anything risky" upbringing. I am convinced that modern childhood generally does not build enough independence and thirst for knowledge.
