Sitting with friends for coffee this morning I posed this question "What are the REAL world issues?" It was interesting the answers that followed in that conversation. My friends are a really diverse group of people. We are not a group of "oh yeah- we all agree on everything" bunch.
I gleaned from our conversation about REAL world issues...and they are as follows:
Americans are tired, angry, frustrated, and getting impatient. Many of those from the religious right who voted for Obama because of a desire to be part of history in the making...are now frustrated and suffering buyers remorse.
Sure he just got the Nobel Peace Price but as all will agree, he himself said he didn't deserve it. The liberal groups are giddy as children who have consumed too much sugar, beaming with pride that their savior that finally has had an undeniable accomplishment. They feel they are finally making all the rest of us see the brilliance of a man who many others feel has simply been riding a rainbow to a pot of gold.
Speaking of rainbows, lets now consider that bold announcement that Obama's newest goal is to end the "Don't Ask-Don't Tell" era within our military. Seems he has realized that with so many gays within our military it would not be cost-effective to bounce them out of there after paying so much to train them. I believe he stated something to the effect that "we need these people to fight" so in a way we can possibly say he implies that "they should have an equal opportunity to die" so that is a Hmmmm...moment.

How to Detoxify the Banks
Separating the wheat from the chaff.
by Jim Prevor (founder and CEO of Phoenix Media Network, Inc)
The Bush and Obama administrations have shared an unwillingness to see any of the major banks go under, hence the problem we have in solving the current banking and financial crisis. Though both presidents pointed to an alleged systemic risk to the economy owing to the size of the big banks, it is probably also true that any administration would be sensitive to the enormous weight these institutions carry as symbols of American prosperity, influence, and power.

Not long ago I had an apple problem. Wavering in the produce section of a Manhattan grocery store, I was unable to decide between an organic apple and a nonorganic apple (which was labeled conventional, since that sounds better than "sprayed with pesticides that might kill you"). It shouldn't have been a tough choice--who wants to eat pesticide residue?--but the organic apples had been grown in California.

From : Starting Your Day Right Devotions for each morning of the year By : Joyce Meyer
But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).
Galatians 5:16
"The fruit of the [Holy] Spirit, [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, gentleness (meekness, humility), self- control (self-restraint, continence)" (Galatians 5:22-23).
People throughout the world try to acquire these virtues through counseling or self-help books.
