Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Can I mix silver, gold, costume and real jewelry with different shapes, sizes, colors and stones? Yes, this is highly recommended! The more variety, the more interesting.
2. How many items can I use? There is a 20 charm mximum, but you can use as many as you would like! If you have more than 20 charms, an additional $25.00 fee will apply. There are no guidelines or rules. Jen will return all unused items and chain with your completed necklace.
3. What if I don’t have a personal stock of charms? Simply email Jen at jenboaz@gmail.com and tell her about yourself, your interests, your birthstone, and some of the things that are important to you. She will then use her stock of charms to create a necklace that reflects your individuality. (additional $25.00 charge for charms)
4. Is the necklace heavy? It depends on your items. Jen will use her discretion when it comes to the weight of your necklace.
5. How long and thick is the chain? The chain is approximately 25 inches long and is very sturdy. It will hang about an inch or 2 above your belly button. Please specify if you prefer different length.
6. What could be more eco-fierce than recycling in this delicious way?
Mailing address:Jen Boaz Jewelry
1488 E. Rock Springs Rd. NE
Atlanta GA 30306
See below for inspiration

Redecorating. Costly. Stressful. And causing serious rifts between you and anyone having claimed they “knew a guy who knew a guy.” Contract Jen Boaz’s new Brilliant collection to find a lovelier sort of fix. Source your jewelry box for the much-loved, mismatched, and otherwise ill-fated charms, gems, rings, and broaches that make ideal raw materials. Boaz combines them all - BFF heart halves, foreign coins, christening rings - to create personal, one-of-a-kind pieces strung on silver or gold rope chain. Running low on sentimental doodads? There’s hope yet. Tell Jen a little bit about your dreams, passions, and interests (keep it short, she ain’t your therapist) and she’ll fashion a necklace to fit your personality and past. Without so much as a blueprint sketch.

Jen Boaz Brilliant Keepsake Necklace Simply brilliant. We love Jen Boaz' Keepsake necklace! The perfect gift for the girly-girl or the mom in your life. Unique, sentimental, and full of charm the necklace gives new life to mismatched, seldom worn but beloved pieces hanging out in the bottom of your jewelry box. Jen Boaz is brilliant in the way that she combines your keepsakes, or should you not have enough to fill your necklace she can fashion a necklace to fit your personality, passions, and past. Genius.

Taking all your favorite old charms, trinkets and found pieces and throwing them all on the same chain together. I couldn’t agree more of what a cute idea this is and I think this is definitely a project worth trying out yourself.

From trinkets to treasure: "What is Jen Boaz's version of going green?" Taking all your favorite old charms, trinkets and found pieces and throwing them all on the same chain together! Unique, sentimental, and full of individuality, my Brilliant™ necklaces give new life to your mismatched items, keepsakes and seldom worn but beloved pieces hanging out in the bottom of your jewelry box. With these random knickknacks I create a one-of-a-kind piece to fit your personality, passions, and past. It's the perfect piece of jewelry that not only captures your heart with its beauty but also doesn’t offend your consciousness or harm the earth and its inhabitants. What could be more Eco-fierce than recycling in this delicious way? I live by the motto: 'Never throw anything away without first thinking of another life for it.' I believe that by making small changes in our own lives, we can help foster larger more positive changes in our environment...and be Brilliant at the same time!"

Sure, her delicate, dangly earrings – made from semiprecious stones, briolettes and champagne pearls – are sweet and special. But what really makes JEN BOAZ a standout designer? The necklaces in her Brilliant Collection. For these pieces, she takes the knickknacks, keepsakes and sentimental charms you've been stowing in your cluttered jewelry box and creates one-of-a-kind clustered (and surprisingly unclunky) pendants that rise to the level of art. The “Jen” features an ancient coin, a heart necklace from a ninth-grade boyfriend, a good-luck charm, Grandma's brooch and a bead from a trip to Italy. The “Yael” includes a sparkly Star of David, a sorority lavalier and a crystal drop from a chandelier. The pieces range from about $175 to $220. Boaz, who studied studio art at the University of Alabama, now lives in Virginia-Highland and sells her jewelry in more than 15 stores.

Old BFF half necklaces from friendships gone quite wrong? Name charms from your boriqua jewelry stage? Grandma’s cat pendant missing a ruby from its eye? The star of David from Aunt Ruth from your Bat-Mitzvah that you never wore again? What else is sitting at the bottom of your jewelry box wasting space? Imagine if you could make the most killer cool necklace out of old pendants and doodads! Well, you aren’t that creative and don’t have the time to sit around crafting the hope diamond all day! Luckily Jen Boaz does this for a living and if you have a dime, she has the time. Check out her “BRILLIANT” necklaces. What could be more eco-fierce than recycling in this delicious way?

You know the scenario. Cluttered jewelry boxes brimming with jewelry that you never wear. Yet every time spring cleaning rolls around, your sentimental itch flares up and your jewelry obtains another coat of dust. Now you can be eco-fierce by polishing off your high school ring, your grade school charm bracelet, and that necklace from your high school boyfriend and sending them packing to Jen Boaz.

I have a weakness for people transforming their passion into their job – it makes their work pleasant, for them and the others, they invest real feelings into whatever they’re doing, things are done quickly, willingly, light hearted and the outcome is unique. Jen Boaz seems to be one of those persons. Wearing her creations consequently becomes a pleasure. Which one/s of her signature jewelry would you wear (doesn’t this lucky charm look stunning? There’s even an explanation for every item within!)
Black & White Sophistication

We just moved into our new house (a sprawling foreclosure), so I had free reign with this room! As you can see in the before photo, the room was dull, dingy, and needed lots of TLC.

My goal was to use black and white in a tasteful way to help the baby's visual development. My first choice was stripes around the room, but I figured that might just make the baby dizzy after a while. So, instead, I went with a high-gloss black latex paint, and brightened up the room with tons of white. (The green is an after thought accent color to warm up the space).

Also, in an effort to be somewhat creative, I stuck a vinyl decal of a tree on the wall, painted over it, and then cut out the vinyl with an X-acto knife. Had I thought ahead, I could have incorporated the accent green on the tree. Sticking a vinyl decal on the wall wasn't creative enough for me . . . and I didn't want to deal with all of the air bubbles.

Since we're in a tight economy, everything you see (with the exception of the crib and the chandelier) was found on Craigslist. Nothing was over $40! I also found items for free from the freecycle network. I just sanded the furniture and painted it flat white to match everything else in the room . . . well, my husband handled all the hard work. Small accents like the beautiful black and white crystal chandelier just added a touch of chic for our new baby girl!

Note: I know the black isn't for everyone, but I really wanted to make a room that our daughter could grow into...and one that would remind her to be a sophisticated lady. As time goes on, the room will go through many transformations and I'm sure all of her toys, clothes, blankets, etc. will bring the "baby" dimension to the room flawlessly.

We just moved into our new house (a sprawling foreclosure), so I had free reign with this room! As you can see in the BEFORE photo, the room was dull, dingy, and needed lots of TLC.

My goal was to use black & white in a tasteful way to help the baby's visual development. My first choice was stripes around the room - but I figured that might just make the baby dizzy after a while. So instead I went with a high-gloss black latex paint, and brightened up the room with tons of white.

(Sticking a vinyl decal on the wall wasn't creative enough for me...and I didn't want to deal with all of the air bubbles.)

Since we're in a tight economy, everything you see (with the exception of the crib and the chandelier) was found on Craigslist (nothing over $40!), or free from the freecycle network. I just sanded the furniture and painted it flat white to match everything else in the room...well, my husband handled all the hard work.

Small accents like the beautiful black and white crystal chandellier just added a touch of chic for our new baby girl!

Cleaning Your Chandeliers

I find that some careful dusting with a feather duster usually does the trick. But sometimes a crystal chandelier needs a little soap and water. What's your trick?

bathroom makeover*

I have before & after pictures of my recent bathroom renovation. I would love to hear what you think!

.: before :.

As you can see, there is not much going on. The walls are a boring white and the paint on the cabinet doors was starting to chip. My parents never got around to decorating because we mainly used this bathroom to wash our dog and store our cleaning supplies.

And the renovation process begins....

I first decided to paint the walls in Valspar's Misty Morning Dew. These days, I am totally digging any shades of grey...it's cool & sophisticated.

Next, I installed Mirr.Edge. (a $38 mirror framing system product I picked up at Lowes) It definitely made a dramatic change and I cannot be more pleased with the results.

With the cabinet doors in such bad condition, I painted the cabinet doors in white. Here, I wanted to do something different and unique. One of my all time favorite color palettes is the combination of black and white. I love how this combination is dramatic and yet so simple, all at once. (think Chanel)

I decided to get crafty and outline the white cabinets with a simple black trim. I had leftover black velvet ribbon from a previous project and started messing around...ended up with this:

A touch of trim is a wonderful and simple way to add that WOW factor to a room.

a little bit of sparkle never hurt anybody...added these pretty knobs from Anthropologie as well. (unfortunately, the knobs are no longer on the site)

My next concern was figuring out a way to bring in a side floor cabinet. Because the size of the bathroom is pretty small, I needed a slim table.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything I liked but thankfully I stumbled upon this amazing project over at ikea hacker. It was exactly what I was looking for and it cost me around $45 dollars. What a sweet sweet concoction! (1 $24.99 Lack Shelf + 2 $10.00 Vika Fintorp legs) Who knew you could build such a nice side table by using a book shelf and 2 legs? amazing.

{ i spray painted the legs and shelf white }

Remember that Mirr.Edge project? I had left over mirror pieces and used it to give the table more personality. It adds a nice glam factor. Plus, it's a great way to recycle left over material.

* I bought tin cans and one of my fav. flowers- hydrangeas- from HomeGoods. I have absolutely no problem using these faux silk hydrangeas as replacements for the real ones.
* I used an old basket and filled it with white guest towels.
* On the console, I added crystal candle holders and a tall glass jar filled with potpourri. I actually also put a candle holder inside the glass jar so I can put a Voluspa tin candle on top. Voluspa has an amazing candle line.

No room is complete without good lighting. A while back, I bought an Ikea chandelier for another bathroom and fell in love. At $39.99, it's affordable and pretty! I put a fun twist to it by painting it white and adding faux pearls to the arms.

Now regarding my mirrored picture frame...

Can you believe I was able to score it for only $15? I saw it on clearance and thought it would be perfect. Of course, I had to make some minor adjustments by painting it white. But I could not be happier with the results.

The poster I used is a silkscreened reproduction of a vintage WWII poster "Keep Calm and Carry On" in metallic silver. You can buy it on etsy.

I originally bought it for my bedroom, but thought it would add a bit of humor for the bathroom!

.: pretty towel holders and another hydrangea arrangement :.

Just some more close up detail pictures for your viewing pleasure

With just a few small changes, you can achieve great results.
I had a budget of $350 and I was able to stay well within the budget by using a little bit of creativity, reusing materials from past project, and searching my house for decorative touches.

To summarize...

.: before :.

.: after :.

.: Oh, and the window curtains I bought at Bed Bath and Beyond. I added left over black fabric to it as well. :.

I hope you enjoyed all my sweet concoction recipes! Till next time!

.: a bathroom story :.

entrance way

The first room makeover I ever did was my bathroom. When I started, I didn't have a design vision. I just knew what colors I wanted to paint my bathroom. I settled on Behr's Spring Hill, Mint Hint, and Athenian Green- all 3 different shades of Green. Green is such a fantastic and calming color for a bathroom, and I wanted my bathroom to be a haven where I can escape and find peace.

Since this was my first time painting a room, I was surprised that it took only a couple of hours..by myself! It was so simple! I painted the majority of my bathroom in 2 coats of Behr's Spring Hill. I then painted my window panes and entrance way in the Athenian Green, and only used the Mint Hint for the moldings. For my wall decoration, I used these cheap but very pretty decorative flower stickers (in chrome color) from Ikea. I finished off my bathroom with a $39.99 KRISTALLER Ikea chandelier.

Ideally, I wanted an old-style washstand and a freestanding tub but obviously my budget wouldn't allow for it. So, I did the next best thing I could & "accessorized." You can totally transform a boring bathroom into a glamorous one with clever details. Below is a little collage of some of my finishing touches.
little deets

.: Decorating Tips :.
1.: replace boring knobs w/whimsical drawer pulls to revitalize basic cabinets :.

2.: use your pretty perfume bottles as decoration :.

3.: bring in dramatic lighting with a chandelier :.

4.: anything crystal adds old hollywood glamour :.

5.: bring in color & personality to a bathroom with towels and rugs :.

6.: a side table can be both functional & beautiful :.

7.: painting your door can add a pleasant element of surprise :.

three easy ways to go glam for the holidays - and year round

One of the fabulous things about my job is being surrounded by great design minds. With the seasonal whirlwind of decorating and entertaining swiftly upon us, I tapped west elm’s creative director of design – who is also an exceptional entertainer - Alex Bates to share her expertise and show us how to create a modern and chic mood flawlessly and easily without breaking the bank! I hope you love these as much as I do. ~@

three easy ways to go glam for the holidays - and year round

- Alex Bates, Creative Director west elm design

There are lots of ways to make your home festive and fabulous for the holidays, and reflect your personal style. This season is all about glam and metallic accents. Just like your favorite patent wedge makes every outfit feel chic, there are a few little things that will make a big difference in your home this holiday season. You don’t have to be overwhelmed and you don’t have to spend a fortune. These simple ideas will help set the stage for a stylish holiday and create a look with staying power that will last into the New Year.

Mix up glam and nature

You and your home should shine this holiday season. A small detail can make a big impression with minimal effort. Gold or silver banded glasses are an easy way to add drama when setting the table or when setting the mood for a chic cocktail party. Simple lines can mix and match with holiday patterns or you can create a whole metallic table for a more dramatic statement. In the living room, add a mirrored coffee table. It will soften the room and the table adds a sophisticated decorator touch, especially when mixed with a natural sheep skin area rug. Mix the earthy and the elegant. A large vase filled with natural Manzanita branches and hung with crystal strand ornaments makes quite the statement in a hall or on a table, and reflects candle light beautifully. Carry the festive sparkle through your home when decorating your tree and mantle. Create an all silver Christmas tree with silver and crystal garland, adding a mix of silver and white ornaments. Collect vintage ornaments and mix them in to create your own style.

**Get the look at west elm: metallic double-banded barware & dinnerware, mirror coffee table, convex drum table. Add: chandelier strands/cut chandelier ornaments, silver garlands/ornaments and a sheepskin rug.

Mix the primitive and polished

Animal prints have gotten a great makeover in recent seasons and this year, they are popping up in new styles and patterns everywhere. A little animal goes a long way, try the patterns as an accent piece in the home. Combine timeless and chic animal prints with gold metallic holiday decorations for a fun twist. A zebra stocking pairs perfectly hanging on the mantle next to a tree decorated with gold or vintage ornaments. Or toss a throw pillow on your sofa and get a whole new look anytime you feel like it.

**Get the look at west elm: zebra & leopard stockings, tree skirt and pillow covers, gold vases, tortoise shell bowls and vases.

Light up the season and your home

Last, but not least, don’t forget the lighting. Remember, lighting sets the mood of any holiday party or room so get creative and replace harsh bulbs with soft candlelight. Combine different sizes and shapes of glass lanterns in monochromatic groupings for dramatic effect over a table. Carry the look through the room with complimentary votives and candles sticks on the table or mantle. The room and your guests will enjoy a flattering glow.

**Get the look at west elm: art glass lanterns, vases and votives.

animal print stockings

double banded metallic glassware

art glass lanterns

white & silver ornaments

Harvey Weinstein Weds Designer Georgina Chapman

Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein married British designer Georgina Chapman at his waterfront Connecticut estate Saturday night before a star-studded crowd that included Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Cameron Diaz, Renée Zellweger and Naomi Watts – and topped it off with a grand fireworks display.

Only a month after Weinstein, 55, proposed to the 31-year-old Chapman, the pair exchanged vows in an intimate winter ceremony under the stars.

"The wedding was the most elegant, loving affair I've ever seen," one guest told PEOPLE. "The room was full of incredible people who were there to toast the couple, who looked totally in love."

Attendees from media to finance, including Rupert Murdoch, Revlon head Ron Perelman, Quentin Tarantino, Vogue's Anna Wintour, Vanity Fair's Graydon Carter, models Karolina Kurkova and Helena Christensen, began arriving at the sprawling snow-covered estate by 5 p.m., filling the driveway with a lineup of SUVs and limos.

While temperatures dropped to 28 degrees, the couple said their "I do's" and, by about 8 p.m., guests watched from huge tents decorated with crystal chandeliers and fir trees as fireworks exploded off a barge in nearby Long Island Sound. The crowd broke into cheers after the 10-minute spectacle, which was followed by music from a live band. The party wound down by 1 a.m.

Weinstein and Chapman, who co-founded the Marchesa fashion label, started dating in 2005. At the wedding, the bride "wore a glamorous dress that she designed herself," according to a source.

"Harvey looked the happiest he's ever looked," added the source. "Georgina was absolutely glowing."

"It was like a fairy tale wedding in a big tent with chandeliers and mirrors and pink flowers, " says another source, adding that Nobu and Cipirani catered the event in which guests dined on caviar, truffle risotto and osso bucco.

Weinstein and his brother, Bob, co-founded Miramax Films in 1979, and the company became an Oscar powerhouse, producing dozens of award-winning films including Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting, Shakespeare in Love and The Aviator.

In lieu of gifts, Weinstein and Chapman asked their guests to make contributions to Robin Hood's education programs for underprivileged children in New York City and to Give2Asia's program in support of the disadvantaged in India.

This is the second marriage for Weinstein.

congrats
